My Name is Jack Dayeh , I own and operate DAI Motorsports here in Laguna Niguel CA.
I have delt with a good group of fanatics for about 5 years , so a lot of you Fanatics already know me .

We perform routine preventive maintenance services to all-out track, show and tuning preparation.

Im sorry BimmaBwoy on the SULEV motors Ess hasnt done any R&D or any software tuning cause of the demand , because it is a SULEV motor .

So is the Natural Aspirated software for MS43-MS45 different from the software for the automatic transmission, meaning if this is the case that I have to buy both softwares? Or is it that if you have NA MS43-MS45 automatic transmission that you pay the extra difference to get that software?
Im a little confused , but let me try to answer your question as best as I can .
If Im wrong let me know .
Yes we are talking about two different softwares , one for the Engine management and one for the trans .
Its ideal to do the engine software first , and with an automatic trans the trans software next .
The trans software gives you quicker shifts on higher loads , increases your shiftpoints and gives you insane manuel mode of the steptronic almost as good as the SMG .

What does the software for the SMG do?
Its the same as the Automatic software .
The trans software gives you quicker shifts on higher loads , increases your shiftpoints and gives you insane manuel mode .
You have to do the Engine software first to get the full performance of the SMG software program.

I dont want to start any issues as to which software is better .
Thats why DAI Motorsports and ESS have joined together to introduce all these new products we have brought to the U.S .
ESS is the leading Tuning Company outside of the U.S on BMWs (in my opinion ) and they have some insane Tuning products and softwares .
Our goal is to get the U.S market to try ESS products here in the U.S and let the BMW enthusiasts decide on the good and bad of our products .
We are looking for your input on our products .
As far as a packaged deal .
The engine mang. as posted is on special for 385.00 and the trans is 485.00 .
If you want to do both then I can do it for any fanatics for 820.00 normally you would be looking at 1100.00 dollars .
That deal stands for any fanatics that wants to do both software .

If I got the SMG software from you guys, would BMW be able to see that the Launch Control Limit was raised.. even if I never used the launch control feature?

If the first answer is no, then what about if I do use the launch control feature several times will they recognize a launch at 3,800. Thus voiding warranty? Any and all information about this software in detail would be greatly appreciated. Perhaps a link? .. I'm not finding detailed info on your site.

Jack at DAI asked us to clarify the M3 SMG software for you:

The Euro spec SMG software shifts faster and better than the US spec. It also has a 3800 RPM launch control point instead of the US 1800 RPM point. The CSL SMG software has even faster shifts than Euro and is basically a race version of the SMG software.

We combined the best of both the Euro spec and CSL to give super fast shifts, torque reduction on shifts for smoother shifts, and increased the launch control point to the Euro point. The LC RPM point we offer in the US version is nothing BMW doesn't already use on M3s in Europe.

The number of times LC has been used can be read out by the dealer, but it cannot be used to deny warranty repairs. BMW can't put a feature on a car and then say you can't use it. LC use is even explained in the owner's manual. The speed at which LC is set is irrelevant to this as well.

As for non-M E46, we currently have Steptronic software for MS43 cars. MS45 SSG/Steptronic software will be available later this year. It includes faster shifting, better response, and full manual control.

No it doesnt , its only for the Trans .
If you dont have the ECU software , it is ideal to do the ECU software first then the Trans for peak performance .
They work so much better together .
I can also give you a better deal on both .
We would like you to use both ESS softwares for the ECU and the Trans .

Just like it will overwrite the stock programming, it will overwrite any aftermarket programming you have. But the programming is seperate in the DME and SMG/SSG/Step, they are seperate physical control units.

We are not here trying to push our products on anyone .

just stopped by after i picked up my car from the stealership... I hope not... Dinan was the biggest waste of money I ever spent when I had my 325i. You couldn't even feel the "quicker" shifts. All it really did was make your gear go down to 1st gear when in Manual mode.
Somehow, I see the ESS auto tranny software being much better.

As for service warranty... I believe if they find out you have an aftermarket SMG software, they would refuse to replace your clutch under the service contract by saying the software caused the premature wear of the clutch.

I have a few questions though for the SMG software.
Say if you get an aftermarket performance clutch and a lightweight flywheel to also reduce shift times... will the ESS SMG software be OK with this mod or is it not recommended to get an aftermarket clutch and flywheel with this software?
If it's OK, will the shift times be increased more so with the combination of the aftermarket flywheel/clutch/software or will it pretty much be the same as if you didn't have the ESS software?

That I promise you .
I have it on my droptop show car , its insane .
People asked me why my showcar is an automatic , ESS trans software is the reason .
Imagine having a step with the same response as an SMG , thats how it feals when you drive it in the step mode .
Also if you have any mods to the engine , ECU , headers , etc , the response is so much better with higher revs and no top speed limiter .

True , but they can also say you drove your car too hard even if you dont have any software performed to your car .
They did that to me three times on my 2002 M .
I blew my engine three times , once with 11k miles , second time with 14k miles , the third time they took the car back from me , and payed me full price on the car .
Everytime they would come up with an excuse as to what they thought happened , and they were wrong all three times , and I have been working with this dealership for 14 years .

It doesnt matter , this software works the same on either one .

This is the same software that the Euro M3 and the CSL has for the SMG cars .
The combination of the aftermarket flywheel/clutch/software is only going to make the shifting and the performance better together , also again if you have any other mods on the car , such as ECU , headers etc , it helps the two softwares work better together .

Also it optimizes the SMG transmission software.
Increases shift firmness in S4/5/6 and increases launch control RPM to 3800RPM on US spec M3's like the CSL .

You want to do both of the software together , but it is recomended to have an ECU software upgrade done first to get the best results from the SMG software .

It does as my past posts , ESS has taken the step software and the CSL SMG software and fine tuned it and developed their own software and has perfected it .

Hi,

I am interested in the transmission upgrade. I have a 2000 323i (M52TU) steptronic.

I read your "advantages" to the software upgrade for the transmission. However, I want to know "at what cost" will it have on my transmission (lifespan, heat, etc, etc).

We (DAI , ESS) or any company out there (at least to my knowledge) would NOT sell a product that would damage , cause an issue on anything .
All our products are tested and there has been a lot of R&D time so that we can insure our consumers that there are no problems whatsoever today or in the future .

No it wont your talking about two different Units , one is for the engine ( Shark ) , the other is the trans .

I want to buy this when you have a sale. I have a Dinan intake, exhaust and throttle body but it isnt installed yet. I want to have the ESS software be programmed for it so do I need to install them before I remove my ECU to send it to you.
We will be running a special this week .
As far as intake , T.B and exhaust , we can still program it to the car right now cause they dont make a big differnece , unlike cams , headers ect.

Yes , you need to remove the both control units and ship it out to us .
As far as time , turn around is 24 hours , it all depends on your method of shipping .

I want to add intake, exhaust for my car, just sample bolt on things. But I haven't get it yet. So should I wait 4 to get intake and exhaust first, then send the ecu after that, or it doesn't matter if i get the software first?? Thanks
