 Alright so I just bought a sub and am looking at amps but i want to do a custom sub box. Got a couple questions.
1) I talked to a guy at my audio/video specialty place and he talked told me this amp puts out this much power at 12 volts but if your car can feed it 14 volts it can do more. So first question how can i get my car to give out 14 volts do i need a 2nd battery or higher capacity battery or just a capacitor or something?
2) I want to build a custom sub box out of fiberglass. Do you all order your kits online or is it something i can just buy from home depot?
3) I'm trying to decide where the best place to put the box is cause i want it to fit flush with the trunk not just sit there like a box from best buy or something. I use my trunk especially the little trays on both sides i saw somebody put in a box that fits in the place of the tray but i'd rather not do that. Is the back corner of my trunk good?
4) I want to mount my amp I've seen people do it over the battery tray. What do i need to do this? or is there a better place.
Thanks for the input in advance!!

1. Car running = alternator on = 14 volts. Car not running = battery power = 12 volts. Depending on how much amplifier power you get, you could add a capacitor/battery. If you get small amplifiers, you don't need to upgrade anything.
2. A fiberglass enclosure is a very time consuming, messy and expensive proposition. Have you worked with it before? You can get all the materials you need (fiberglass mat, resin, hardener, etc) from: www.Selectproducts.com If you have no previous experience with fiberglass, I would highly recommend that you buy a couple of their videos as well. Fiberglass is good for irregular areas, such as either side of the trunk (over battery or left tray). If you do not want to use those areas, maybe an MDF enclosure behind the seat or the one that http://www.bavauto.com/ sells (under the rear deck).
3. To mount the amp on either side, you would need to drive screws through the metal behind the carpet (make sure you don't drill though the car to the outside). If there is no metal behind the area where you need to put a screw, you would have to build something out of wood or use a metal brace. You could cut a slit or two in the carpet under the amp to conceal wires.

Thanks for the info.
I'm looking for an amp I am leaning towards an alpine but found a Blaupunkt amp that looks pretty nice and i know that they used to make the HU's for our cars. Any recomendations?

I got a laugh out of that.

That is kind of sad. I would rather not drill a hole in the side of my car. When i get my amp i will look more into it. So what kind of amp would you all recommend best bang for its buck wise since my cash flow is very low.
