It is not a matter of being worth the extra $$. Our kit comes with more hardware and has been proven to be a working system. As far as the price is concerned we may have something special coming your way as a part of our 25th anniversary sale.

The Active kit is a very good system .
There kits come with more hardware becuase they are the only kits in the market that has an external oil cooler and resevour .
As far as reliability the Rotrex blower is very good .
The only downside of that blower is that I find it to be very loud and annoying but on the other hand it lets everyone know that you have a bad A$$ S/C under your hood.
I would definantly go with the AA kit than the VF .
Also I personally find that they are tuned much better than the Tecknik or VF kits for specially the Ms43s .

The blower in the AA kit uses an external oil supply thus from what I understand, it has to use an external oil cooler. Most of the other SC kits out there tap into the motors oil supply to lube the blower. ;)
Now as far as this versus that, I wouldn't buy a SC without a FMIC. You can save the functionality arguments, I just think they look sweet as Hell. :D

Which I think is a very safe and a very good setup to assure the S/C cools down better and incase of a blower malfunction its doesnt effect the engine.

Why does you kit require more hardware?
More hardware as in complete, No marketing hype, with a front mtd. intercooler, separate oil cooler sytem for SC, up to date software , proven and flashed in the factory ECU.. Nothing comes close IMHO.
All of you E46 3 Series guys, you might be interested in the next part of our 25th anniversary sale....

Does the AA system require that the ECU be set back to factory by the Dealer.

You got something to back up this opinion or is this just baseless forum gossip?

here's why i chose the Vf kit over other kits:
1: Easy install
2: custom molded tubing
3: good power for the boost
4: good price
5: blower good for 20psi
and the most important reason 6: Liquid-Air intercooler for stage II
I think stage II will prove to be incredible, and its worth the wait for me.
Things i dont like:
heat soak sucks
no power before 3k rpm
but other than that Im pretty happy with the kit, Id do it again if i had the choice.
Ohhh, and I contacted AA about their kit before buying the VF one... they wanted $9000 including install and taxes. Thats what i was told by one of their salespeople. Although I hear nothing but good things about their product.

As far as the software is concerned all you need to do is send us your ECU and we will upload the software and then send it back to you via 2nd day air.
p.s. Sorry for taking long to answer

Will the stock clutch handle the additional torque?

Don't know if this will help you make up your mind. I just installed an AA kit on my 330i last Saturday. This kit is amazing. I am impressed not only by the change in power but on how smooth it runs. Car drives like stock, only with a few more whistling ponies under the hood.
Yesterday I had a track day at Portland International Raceway. At first I was worried about overheating and the reliability of the system under track conditions. Once again I was impressed with the performance. There was no change in temperature from stock (no heatsoak). And once again the car ran perfect, just like stock but with enough power to be able to keep up with M3, evos, sti and all the cars that used to make me feel slow on the straigh aways. I pushed the car harder than ever before and the only problem I encounter was brakes. According to the flag guys for turn 1 my rotors were glowing everytime I passed. :)
I can't speak about the VF kit but I can tell you that you will not be sorry to go with AA.

I have a sixth sense when someone posts about tracking a FI car.
The water temp gauge in your cluster is probably the last apparatus you want to use for measuring dynamic coolant temperature. The 'needle in the center' position corresponds anywere from 90C to 125C. If you want to do this the right way, assuming you are still interested in tracking the car, you need to observe EGT, oil temp, oil pressure, IAT as well. Get a couple of non-VDO gauges like Greddy, Defi or SPA Technique.

Get a couple of non-VDO gauges...
Ok, so I have to ask. What's wrong with VDO? This is the first time I've noticed anyone steering people away from VDO.

You are right about the cluster temp gauge. I also agree with you that the best way to monitor what is going on, is to install some gauges. Trust me that is my next purchase. What I meant with my post is that the car was running within save parameters. The engine was not getting hot enough to damage anything.
As far as tracking the car, I started last season and can't get enough of it. I see that you have a lot experience tracking FI cars. I will probably ask for your advice in the near future.
What about the stock clutch.
Couldn't tell you about stock clutch. I installed a LWF and clutch package from UUC.

Great choice! If you plan to track your car a lot, I hope you got either the Cerametallic or Ceramic clutch. :) I have the Cerametallic clutch.

Speaking of gauges. I will definitely be adding an oil pressure and oil temp gauge.
I wish BMW would get rid of the stupid fuel mileage doodaa and replace that in the same section with oil pressure.
