Anyone know of an alternative to supersprints Racing cat? maybe something by technik? or some other alternative other than an O2 simulator?
Hey man,
I have been following your last thread a bit.
I was going to try the O2 Sims from baker elect. actually bought it and had it on very good authority that the wouldn't work.
My car was far to raspy with my initial exhaust set up, SS Header, SS X-Pipe, Rear Resonator and SS Muffler. I also have an ASA SK1 SC.
This is what I did:

PM me if you want anymore pics.
Basically I just welded in 2 high flow racing cats into the SS X Pipe, and extended the O2 Sensor wires.
Since you are straight piped you should have no issue at all, just go to any parts store and ask for high flow racing cats, I went with vibrants...........just make sure the inlet outlet piping is the same, mine even came with bungs behind the cat.
Took away the rasp, I was so impressed, my exhaust sound perfect now......just tuned.
Good Luck.
Omes.

Would hollowing out your OEM cat generate a cell to the post O2 sensor?

Thanks alot omes...how much did those cats run you? i was actually comtemplaing taking my headers off bc the sound was way too F-ing loud...i cant take it some times...do you have a sound clip of it that i can hear? is the car loud or is it a nice (more than subtle) accent to the ride? i am really desperate for a solution to this...also where did you purchase those cats from? online source or local shop?
Thanks again for the info!! much appreciated

Hey Man,
Got your pm, sorry it has taken me so long to reply.
Cats were about $150 each (x2) and it was about $300 to install it was alot of work extending the 02 sensor wires ect. I got them from a local performance shop, specializing in mostly big block stuff, if you want i can email you a short video clip.
Made the world of difference in the way the car sounded and no CEL's from missing cats......ect.

Doesn't Supersprint offer race cats?
Doesn't Supersprint offer race cats?
yes, it's what I had on my car. Costs a pretty penny though...

I have technik headers -> Magnaflow Cat (1st resonator removed) -> 2nd stock resonator -> Eisenmann Race Muffler. Sounds very good and unique.
The cats should help quiten down some of the sound too if it's too loud for you.
Here's a video clip of my car with SS headers/race cats+RE DMS Exhaust:

Racecars don't use cats. There's no such thing as a race cat.

"Racing Cat" as in a high performance cat that can tolerate higher octane fuels without burning out.
But yes as you said, racecars (and my car :shhh:) are not equipped with cats.

Hehe, I get you Mike.
You can get high flow cats that have fewer cells and present less of a restriction .. I've seen 5" cats which don't look to block things up much.
But any leaded fuel will destroy cats (and O2 sensors) before too long.
On my car I have flanged sections on the exhaust so I can remove the cats and replace them with a shotgun pipe section for race day and bolt the cats back on for street driving.
