after installing the new piggy back module,i am experiencing idle problems.when i stop in traffic the idle goes up and down and the car turns off.Apparently it is a problem with no answer. As some of you know,i am running the TSI Power Mod module,They say they have already"clamped"my air flow meter, and the only way to maybe solve it is to have an switch controlling the MAF?.There is no way i will be flicking a switch in my bimmer at the lights every time i stop.PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!:dunno:

Soon after the Technik stage 1 kit was installed on my 2003 330i, I had two or three brief idle instabilities. They have not recurred.
Symptoms: after driving 15 min on the freeway at 75 mph, I depressed the clutch. RPMs should have dropped to 900 and stopped. Instead they dropped to about 400, alternator light flickered, rpms overshot to about 1200, back to 400, etc. I engaged the clutch, drove a little more then the rpm oscillation stopped.
It hasn't happened any more (about 10 days since installation).
There are periodic reports of e46 idle instabilities, even on non-FI cars. Don't know if that's related.

One day I stopped and picked up a cheap cone filter to throw on my car to see if I could feel any power gains.
I drove for about 1 hour, stop and go and horsing around because I liked the sound and felt a little more pep.
However, after about 1 hour my idle started jumping up and down and eventually the car started bucking and went into limp mode with the check engine light on. Had it towed home (thanks AAA).
I suspected I screwed up the MAF by putting this high flow air filter on.
Car would start, but the idle would jump up and down and car didn't want to go anywhere. By giving it gas, it only made the car act worse.
Only got 1 code = 0601, something to do with internal control modual....shoot, now I thought I screwed up the computer.
Eventually, my friend told me to clean up the IAC valve and see if that helped.
Next morning, I took it out and cleaned it up along with finding a small boot leak on the iac valve inlet. PUt it all back together, with stock air box and it started and idled perfectly.
I gave it gas and it sounded rough. Unplugged battery to reset limp mode. Started back up and it ran better than it has in months.
Bottom line, your IAC valve might need a little cleaning or replacing. It is funny that when I put the high flow filter on, it probably let more air in, enough that the IAC valve couldn't handle it seeing it was all gunked up and decided it was time to give up.
Try cleaning it to see if the idle problem goes away.
Let me know.
p.s. there is another part that sits on top of the IAC valve and plugs into your intake. There is a butterfly valve that was a little gunked up on mine and it was helpful to clean it. You will need to remove this part to get the IAC out anyways.
Good luck.

How did you clean your IAC, you aren't talking about the throttle butterfly are you???? Thanks
