Since now its been officially release, what does everyone think the potential of this twin turbo engine is? Anyone planning anything (cough, cough Samir)?

Can the engine handle larger turbos? Intercooler (is the stock intercooled?)? Will tuning be a huge issue since the ECU is already tuned for the 2 turbo's?

And, last of all, anyone know if this car has an LSD?

I'd be afraid that the car will be even more difficult to tune than the E46's. I mean look how long it's taken for the ZHP software. I'd think that BMW will have made it (not intentionally I'm sure) even more difficult for tuners to extract additional power.

Personally I'm not too worried about it, because I don't find it a good looking car. I do think it's good of BMW to have a middle of the road, filler car between the high end 3'er and the M3.

P.S. I doubt it has a LSD.

From the work that Horsepower Freaks did on the E90 Sedan with their turbo kit the software seems like it is going to be very hard to tune.

I'll be picking one up when they become available, so I'll be able to answer these questions more accurately once the car is actually released. Until then, any talk about mods for this car is pure speculation.

Tim are you going to be replacing your 330 with a e90/92?

Speculation, indeed. Can't wait to see what you come up with

Is this car being offered with an LSD?

Last I heard, it will not have an LSD (reserved only for ///M cars).

Yeah, even the Z8 didn't get an LSD.

correct me if Im wrong guys but, as far as I did my research of the 335i. It holds a M54B30 but with a lower compression, one stage intake manifold, and 2 seq. turbos........Also, the motor will be titled "N"54B30.......isn't this a positive for the 3.0 guys to retro parts onto there E46's?

For those wanting power on the level of the 335i from the e46, the exhaust manifold and turbos will probably be a big help. For those wanting more power from bigger turbos, it remains to be seen whether the bmw manifold, designed for small (quick to spool up) turbos, will support anything bigger. I have my doubts.

I don't know if there is potential for retrofitting anything from the intake side. The new turbo motor is supposed to utilize direct injection. Of course, if you wanted to replace the entire cylinder head....

As usual, tuning will be key and I'd wager that the software for the newer 335i will be useless on an e46.

Unfortunately, the N54/52 head is totally different from the M54/M52TU, so nothing is compatible (cross platform) between the 2 engines. The intake ports are shaped differently and the exhaust ports are also different.
