Is that true that changin the intake/exhaust camshafts sensors will make a big of a difference in term performance of the car, considering the car has 40-50k miles?
Ive heard a few people kept saying that they felt the car felt like a completely diff car, and they can feel the gains in performance right after theyve changed both the intake and exhaust camshafts sensors. I got about 80k miles in my car right now and thinkin about doin the same thing but need some of your opinions here about this. TIA!

i'm pretty sure they feel huge performance gains because their old sensors went bad... if your sensors are still good, it wouldn't be too much of a difference I would assume.

A few of the people that I know said their cams sensors weren't bad, and how do you even know if they're bad or not if it doesnt trigger the CEL right? They just replaced their sensors without waiting for the error to be triggered and they said they noticed ALOT of improvement in the performance of the car, they said the gain is really noticable. So Im just wondering.

I had some problems with my car some time ago. It was idling bad and I really felt that I was missing some power. No CELs on the dash however.
I then bought an OBDII reader to see if I could find anything in the system. And yes, error codes for both my intake and exhaust sensors were stored. After replacing those my car felt totally different again.
Since then, I have actually had a some members of the Danish BMW club by my house to read the error codes, since they were experiencing similar problems but no CEL, and 2 of them had a faulty intake sensor. After they were replaced, their cars were running a lot better as well.
Still, if the ODB reader doesn't find an error code, I see no point in replacing the sensors.
BTW both can be replaced by DIY.

I struggled for months (over 8 months to be exact) trying to get this lost of power resolved. I never had a check engine light on. I went to 2 different BMW dealers and several different small BMW specialist shops and nobody was able to figure this out. I changed everything I could think of except for the exhaust cam senor. As soon as I changed it, my power instantly came back. I was so happy to have finally resolve this issue.
