I just wanted to make a little post on Tom LaBarbara, one of the Service Advisor's at Greenwich BMW.
I have had so many run-ins with various different BMW dealers and I can say just as most of you can that most experiences have been less than pleasing. At times it even makes you wish you never took them in. Most SAs are just straight a$sholes, and probably because you are younger and have one of the best BMW's available. Most of these guys think they can treat you like whoever because your appearance or age, just anything really. Then you see the lady with the 323i come in and she gets treated like a goddamn queen. Nothing wrong with owning a 323i, but you bought yourself a $60,000 M3 that is under warranty... maybe its not but that doesn't matter. She gets a brand new loaner, you would be lucky to get one... or you get the ugliest colored X3 on the lot. They've rushed you in and rushed you out and they don't really care too much about many of your complaints. They'll call you when they can.
I think we can all relate somewhat to this. Maybe, maybe not. I have been to 7 different BMW dealers in the Tri-State area. I bought my M3 brand new from Westchester BMW, guess what? One of the worst. Most of these guys think you are full of sh!t about your worries and really don't care about the customer, especially guys like us.
Greenwich BMW has opened up in the past year one of the biggest BMW Service Centers in the East Coast. When it first opened one of the SA's Sherman, was the man. He hooked me up, he was fair and always took care of me. Of course he ended up leaving as soon as he found a better job.
Well my past few visits to Greenwich BMW, have been great. For the past half year this guy Tom has been working there. He's a regular guy, and he is a car fanatic. He is honestly one of the nicest guys I could affiliate to any BMW dealer.
I took my car in for several things, including my Inspection I and the Emissions Programming Recall. I also took it in for a little problem I was having with the leather on my driver's seat. It was also taken in for the "Cold start issue" that has become somewhat common with the e46 M3. There were also other little things I wanted to check out. I told him about every single issue I had with the car, he just noted everything with details to make sure nothing got lost in translation.
I got a loaner right away, an e90 330i sedan. They had my car for 2 days just to check out my Cold Start Issue and just to make sure everything gets done properly. Tom called me up the car was done. I go pick up the car, they DETAILED the car for me... WAXED the car. Could not believe it, looked crispy as hell. Tom ran me through every detail on what was done, what was replaced. This guy was nothing short of fantastic. He took care of me, and more importantely he took care of my M. I sat with him for a while just to shoot the sh!t and he's cool as hell.
He's a cool guy and he definitely knows how to take care of his customers. I really was thinking about not getting a BMW again because of the lousy service but this one guy has kept me in the game.
I just wanted to let you guys know, if you need anything... call up Tom at Greenwich BMW and don't settle for less. He'll take care of you. Tell him I sent you (My name is Carhilt aka Lee), tell him you know me from the forums and he'll take care of you. I've never had a better experience and you won't believe some of the ones I've had.
Anyway wanted to give out the good word to all you guys on the forum.
Later guys.
