So, I went and started a business! What started out as a small venture making Ultrasuede shift boots for UUC Motorwerks has turned into a full-blown online dealership. I'm very excited to announce that I've signed on as a sponsor here at E46Fanatics!

As a Fanatic since 2003, I have always taken a slightly different approach to modifying my '00 323i. I did my best to research the components I wanted to add, to not simply follow trends, and - most importantly - to not buy anything that wasn't fitting with my overall concept. The result is a car that I love to drive, that is well maintained, and that reflects my modding thought process.

My goal with alkendesign.com is to help you complete your concept, your way. To that end, I have setup several unique features on the website:

A Performance Glossary - an ever-growing list of parts and terms, all defined in plain English.

Our Performance Survey - this simple survey is designed to help you determine what kind of driver and tuner you are.

Our Exclusive Concierge Service - is designed to take the guesswork out of modding. Let us know what you want to do and we'll help you do it.

and, coming very soon -

Our Performance Registry - A concept long overdue, the registry will allow you to create your car's profile and compile a 'wish list' of parts. Share the list with friends and family - online.

Performance Packages - hand selected products, bundled together, and presented to you at a savings over buying parts individually.

Wear Item Bundles - Control arm bushings going? Probably time to replace a few other things, too. We'll have them all wrapped together for you.

Of course, we have an online Parts Department where you can browse through a list of performance and replacement parts that is growing daily.

We proudly offer the entire UUC Motorwerks product line. Additionally, we are carrying track gear from Sparco, Corbeau, and others. Finally, will will soon have SK tools and shop jacks/stands from AC Hydraulic.

So, I encourage you to visit my new site. I welcome any feedback - publicly or privately. If you are looking for something you can't find, please contact me. Do not hesitate to email - alkendesign@gmail.com.

Thanks, and I'm very excited to work with all of you.

Ken

Thanks for all the nice words, guys!

If possible, please use the Concierge form on my site to make requests for parts. PM here will be too hard for me to track.

I appreciate it.

Hey Ken, shoot me a PM with your direct email address if you can. Your little concierge section is almost exactly like something I've always thought about doing. I'd love to bounce some ideas of mine off of you so maybe you could implement them into the site.

And who did your webdesign stuff? Its very well done! Other sponsors on the board should take note... UUC included! :lmao:

PS - When submitting the "Survey" the form throws an error stating that a valid email address must be entered. I did enter a valid address, though. Check it out!

Email - alkendesign@gmail.com

The site was designed and is maintained by 4siteusa.com. Kim does a fantastic job. She's very fast and understands the needs of someone like me - I have plenty of ideas but no technical experience to make them work.

Someone else noted that the survey gave them trouble. I think the issue was an older version of IE or Firefox that they were using. I'll mention it to 4siteusa to see if there's something they can do on our end.

That part can be found here (http://www.whatsyourconcept.com/itemDetails.asp?itemID=236)

That photo was taken in my car, actually!. I absolutely love that knob.

The selection of shift knobs can be found by following the links through the Driver Input category.

FYI, I will soon be posting under the username 'alkendesign'. Don't be fooled by immitators, or the drastic reduction in my post count!

Brendan - thanks... I'll probably switch over and keep the personal account on the side - you know, in case you people drive me over the edge as a vendor!

I'm not sure why Firefox has that issue. I'll ask 4siteusa.

The mailing list, survey, and concierge features should now work with Firefox and other older browsers.

Thanks to Kim at 4siteusa.com! She's ontop of the situation. I highly recommend their service.

Ken,

Best of luck and thanks for sponsoring our community!

Fanatics,

Buy with confidence from Alken Design! I've known him for years (from Fanatics meets, working on other Fanatics' cars at BrakeFests, NJ BMW CCA Autoxs/meets, etc). In fact, I already did order from his sire and Ken got me the parts I needed (outer tie rod ends for my semi-rare e30 iX) and he got me the parts very quickly. He even followed up with me recommending I add new fastners (bolts, nuts and washers) which I mistakenly forgot to order... which basically saved me time from having to re-order. Thanks again Ken!

I agree with the site design, Kim did a sharp job! You should thank her Ken

And about the shift knob, I have that knob on my iX and I love it! Plus, it's height adjustible so you can even make it super low to reduce the throw for even a little more than just the ssk (UUC of course :D) with a regular knob.

Could not echo this more. I've met Ken on multiple occassions at impromptu BrakeFests and meets and quick drives to the local Home Depot for, what was it, a giant 4" drill bit, and you can buy with confidence. Truly, you all can put him right up there with the top sponsors on this site.

So, Ken, any plans to expand the product line beyond UUC/Alken products?

PS - B, remember that garage door incident? Well the mark may be finally gone in a few weeks. Good memories.

The purple interior is long gone, thanks for remembering that!

Brent/Jared - thanks so much for the nice words.

I am carrying - though not individually listed yet - products from Sparco, Corbeau, SK Tools, AC Hydraulic, and replacement parts that are Genuine BMW (through a dealer wholesale) and OEM aftermarket. The truth is, if you need it, I can likely get it. Listing everything on the site is a different story, though I'll be adding stuff regularly.

I will be posting featured items here that I'll either offer savings as a package deal, or with free shipping, or some other incentive. The possibilities are ENDLESS!!!!!!!OMGHI2U!!!1111

I think I'm too tired to make business decisions right now...

Unionjack graciously donated the steptronic boot from his now-deceased cabrio to be sacrificed as a prototype. Things - like getting this business running - have gotten in my way from doing boot development.

I hope to get back to that very soon. I have a conceptual design that will eliminate the need to use OEM boot frames, as well as patterns for the steptronic and SMG boots. I have changed fabricators (still made in the US) recently, which will hopefully make quality control a bit easier for me.
