Is there plenty of room for it?

I'd like to get a TSE3 for now. When I put on headers, I'd like to stick high flow cats on the exhaust. Just want to make sure there's plenty of room for it on a TSE3.

Thanks.

i dont think no matter what you do to that thing it wont be quiet. i will post a video of my car on the dyno with headers & TSE3

Wouldn't be insalling them for noise, I'd be installing them for emissions.

Some advice from someone that has already gone this route:

- Buy the TSE3 and call it a day exhaust wise.

- Put the money you would have put into headers...and eventually cams...followed by a light weight flywheel, into a supercharger kit.

wow. how can you possibly like your car to be that loud?

Dude, it's all on the list, don't worry. It's my understanding that headers will only let me get more power out of the supercharger. Correct me if I'm wrong.

The plan is exhaust, flywheel/clutch, s/c, headers. I just want to be able to keep cats on the car.

What do you suggest?

It sounds to me like you have headers and a TSE3, correct? I want the same thing... but with cats. What's so odd about that?

i couldn't accelerate my car pass 3k rpm because of the noise. i gave it to my lil brother for his stock exhaust. give me a few min to post the video

The car sounds good to me, haha- I know it's a little loud, I'd add some high flow cats and you'll be fine. Adding the cats will cut a little bit of the rasp out and keep you all legal. :)

hahaha that thing was so loud. i think I'm going to go with ss straight pipe with a Remus exhaust. i was embarrassed to drive the car when it was like that

It's not all that "loud", it just has a nasty rasp to it. Too metallic.

I guess I'm used to loud cars, though.

So, back to my original question :)

Is there ample room to add high flow cats on the TSE3?

i know somebody has done it. i was looking for it but couldn't find. they just go on staggered where the first resonator is (i think). i did find this video while i was looking.

i will keep searching for you. I'm surprised no one has told you because it was such a popular topic

thats when my car had 37 pound injectors in it so it only made 260. i was running pig rich. i don't want to jack his thread so if you have anymore questions ask in here:http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?p=5206702#post5206702

if you want cats just buy a two 50 dollar cats dont waste your money on high flow you will not notice a difference because the difference in flow rate between them is almost negligable

Wow, that was pretty freaking loud... What were your mods at that point? I'm assuming it was supercharged there? I guess I'm used to turbos, they generally make the exhaust a bit deeper.

it was at that point. i had tm12 @ 9.5 psi, technik headers, & tse3 exhaust. way to loud for me

Hmm, that's the same setup I was going to go for. Guess I need to do something about that, huh? That was really really loud.

when i was driving the car to the shop i had to accelerate it to get out of the toll booths and a jersey state trooper pulled me over and was pissed. He almost gave me a ticket but i just told him i was on my way to the shop to get it corrected.

took it off hahaha, went back to stock. I am planning to put it back on to get it dynoed to see the horsepower difference

02 sensor did not need to be extended. just rewire the wire harness. plenty of room.

if you want to save some bucks, get EBAY headers..... (trust me, there is no science into headers), i had my set of suppersprint headers next to a set of ebay headers and you couldnt tell the difference...
get the TSE3, remove the first set of resonators, and install a set of high flow magnaflow RACE kats in place....
call it a day exhaustwize......

that is exactly what i have on my car, with the only difference i have suppersprint headers, but they are a waste of money...

Jorge post up your video/sound clip.

Jorge has a nice setup. He basically has the TSE3 with supersprint headers. However, he modified his TSE3. he removed the rear resonator to install some cats. the resonator toward the tip was removed to install a "quad" exhaust setup. Basically, he pretty much has a straight pipe since he removed all or most of the UUC resonator.

I disagree, such as with equal length headers you need to tune them so exhaust gases from 2 cylinders aren't trying to escape at the same time, and then yet sometimes nothing is escaping. Then look at the materials used, After ____ heat cycles how are the ebay headers going to hold up? Are they going to crack? How good is the weld penetration on the ebay headers? All these little things add up power and quality/longevity wise.

I really like the sound of my cats/tse3 setup. at cruising speed you can not tell that I have headers. However, the headers come to live when I floor it or accelerate. the noise sounds sweet. it isn't ricey or sound like a muscle car.
