Without any warning,my alternator fried.Only 72k/miles on my car i already replaced my generator and the battery. What a shame on bmw!
I went to an indy shop to fix my car and i still spent $772.59($438.00 oem alternator,$122.05 oem battery and $160.00 for two hour labor +$50.54 tax).
6 months ago it was vapor barrier, tensioner belt and bushings that ran me out for $1300.00 at the stealer.
I love to drive the car but i can't keep spending money on it like that cause i have a baby on the way. Now,i'm thinking about trading it to a 07 g35 6mt.What do you guys think about the new G with 306hp?it seems like they upgraded the interior of that car.Anything i should be concerned about the G?

My wife is looking at the 07 G35. It is a nice car. The reason I bought my 328Ci versus the G35 coupe was two fold: rear seat headroom is superior in the BMW, and the gear shift vibrated soo bad my had went numb in a 10 minute test drive! Sure the BMW had issues, but I am still happy with it. That said, I will happily drive my wife's G35 when she gets it...

Your car does not have a generator. Close the door on any Japanese car... 'nuff said.
I looked at the G35 and as soon as I closed the door I knew I would NOT be buying one. I got back out, thanked the salesman and never looked back. WTF was I thinking anyway, I must have been nuts to think it would be able to even hold a match to my BMW.

I think the styling on the 07 g35 is beautiful, will probably go for a test drive soon.

I am surprised at how much nickel & dime crap breaks in my 01' 330i. It is't big stuff, just lots of little stuff that a stealership would love to fix for a fortune. Fortunately I fix everything myself. With only 46K miles, here is my repaired items that I can recall:
Passenger side window motor
Front control arms and bushings
Rear Trailing Arm Bushings
Thermostat
A/C Fan blower resistor
Battery
Fan Belts
Two sets of tires (I don't drive that hard)
Brakes
One driving light
one brake light
radiator reservoir tank
trunk unlock mechanism
not to mention all of the fun with the stealerships
Routine stuff: Wiper Blades, air filter for cabin, alignments
Am I going to buy another BMW.... H#LL NO.......

Is there a DIY for replacing the Thermostat? How much did you have to spend on it? thanks...

You wouldn't by any chance still have that alternator case??? Check my sig.
G35s are pretty good bargains. Maybe this is just me, but the seats were horribly uncomfortable. I really don't care for the interior either.

After you put some mileage on that G35, it will feel like your driving a Sentra. No where near the same build quality. Stats on paper look good though.
