I have a 325i sedan 2001 that has a blown motor. When removing the bolts in attempts to see if the head was resavagable with resurfacing my meachanic found that 2 of the bolts were stripped, basically ensuring even if i were to have a new head the engine would never seal up as it should.Apparently the motor had quiet a bit of overheating damage that could likely led to other issues down the line.So basically if I have to put a new or rebuilt engine swapped in.If I have to swap the motor out one way or the other I was thinking I mise well upgrade to the 330i engine. My understanding is the 330i 2001 step. engine is a direct swap for the 325i step. motor. Its also my understanding I can use all the other 325i components with this motor (ex. 325 transmission, expansion tank, exhaust, thermostat etc) Is this true? I read some where I would also need to swap out my intake manifold if I want to put a 330i motor in my 325i. Is this accurate? Basically what Im looking for is what parts would I really need to replace to complete this swap sucessfully? Would I need a 330i ECU or would I need to get my 325i ECU reprogrammed? Any insight would be much appreciated as I would like to complete this task asap for Im currently carless. Thanks again.:hmm:
