I was thinking VF Engineering let you make payments on their kits, but I guess they don't.. Maybe I misread it somewhere, are there any companies that do this? Also I am 18, if I was to apply for a credit card, my first one, would I be able to make a purchase of say $5k with it and make payments..? Or would my limit be much lower?

First let me say that a revolving credit line is no substitute for inadequate capitalization. Using it often ends badly.
You could use a credit card or a 3rd party line of credit offered by a merchant. I've seen some parts vendors that offer lines of credit. Vivid Racing for example offers 12 months interest free for qualified applicants and they sell Active Autowerkes. I'm sure there are other vendors that offer similar deals as well. Either form of credit will allow you to build credit history as you pay down the balance but each has it's advantages.

If you don't have a credit card now I highly doubt you'll get a card with a 5-7 thousand dollar limit as your first one.

We offer financing through a third party but it varies on credit. Usually you need to have some history to get a straight loan like that on 5k+. American Express is one of the few cards that would give you that kind of credit right off the bat. `
Send an e-mail to E46fanatics@uniqueeurodesign.com and we'll give you the details if you are interested.

Listen, I'm not your Dad, but I am a Dad and an attorney, so it's kind of an ingrained habit to give advice...
Don't do this. Just don't. Whether you're in school or not, you've got much better things to do than put yourself in a $5K hole. Maybe the payments are only going to be a few hundred a month, I don't know. But whatever the payments are, don't do this. Those payments are going to last much, much longer than you want them to, and don't forget that you're maintenance costs may well go up after you bolt on the blower.
Good luck with your decision.

I am going to school, but I won't be putting myself in a hole with $5k.. I make more than enough to pay for it working for my dad, but I just spend too much money going out on the weekends, so I don't see myself being able to stay in the house for a long period of time trying to save up $5k. I would just ask my parents for the money, but they wont like the idea of me making my car even faster. Another route I was thinking about taking was to piece a kit together, say I make $500 one week take that and order injectors and a bypass valve. And just continue doing that until I have everything I need.. I'm not sure if any of the companies would sell me a kit piece by piece though??

if you're doing it piece by piece, i don't see why you should just save bit by bit, then purchase when you have all the $$. :hmm:

Patience young Skywalker, patience. Save your money first. If you still want a supercharger when you have the cash on hand, THEN buy it. If you spend too much money right now going out on the weekends, what are your weekends going to be like while you pay for your supercharger?
Prioritize your needs and wants young one.

dood...Seriously don't do it. Everyone is saying the same thing for good reason. I have been there. For me it was a $5K car audio system, which back in the day was a lot of dough to drop on ICE. I could've saved up for it, but back then I wasn't real big on deferred gratification. I won't lie, the system was ridiculously awesome, but the payments sucked, it took way too long to pay off, ended up spending way too much because of the financing....like almost double the cash price. No one is trying to kill your buzz, we'd all like to have another FI brother on the board....this just isn't the way to do it.
I mean i guess as long as you know the downside to it and go into it with your eyes open, then just make the best decision you can....I still wouldn't recommend it.
I also remember that some people tried to warn me about getting that car audio system and I couldn't see what they were trying to tell me. I guess the young are doomed to make the mistakes that people who have been there try to warn them of. Ten years from now you'll be telling some kid not to finance the new "Ultra-charger system" for his preowned 2013 BMW biofueled hybrid. ;)

Here is the best advice you will every get. I know that feeling when you want something because i still have it from time to time and i am no young cat. What you need to do is approach your father/mother ask them to put you on one of your credit cards. Tell them that you do not want this card in your hands and to lock it in a safe place or cut the card up. As long as your parents have good credit and maintain good standings with creditors you will be building credit too. Now Each week take a few hundred dollars to your parents and tell them to put it away in a safe place and never give you a dime of it. Lets say you gave them $300 a week, which will be 5k in about four months. If you start now you could have it by the time summer break lets out. Now, remember the card i ask you to consult your parents about. Go tell your parents, Father i have given you $300 for the past 16 weeks, I know you don't think i need a supercharger for my car but i have shown you how responsible i am by saving my money, cutting back on the parties and getting good grades in school. Ask them to give you the card to purchase the supercharger, tell them to make the monthly payments using the money you gave them for the past 16 weeks.
What you have done was prove to them you can be responsible, manageable, and a great business partner. You will earn their respect and maybe they will trust that you will not go run off a cliff trying to out run the police in your supercharger.
I told you this to give you and anyone reading this. You can establish your credit while learning to manage money, develop negotiating skills and make sound decisions.
Good luck
