ESS TS - waste gate

Question is...does it have one. On my TS1 installation I hear cracking/popping sounds when accelerating hard at about 5500 rpm.

Could it be a waste gate?

There's a by-pass valve, but no waste gate. What kind of exhaust system do you have?

Ok. Does it serve the same purpose. The exhaust is factory OEM. Car is 2k1 330ci.
