Hey, sorry if this has been posted before but I did a quick search and didn't find anything.
My question to everyone is what are all the FI kits out for the E46s right now, what are their stats, does anyone have dyno sheets on them, and what kind of results have people had with them.

So far I know the ESS, AA, VF engineering, Technik, and ASA currently have S/C kits out and all make pretty good power. What I don't know is exactly how much power people typically get from each kit in their various stages, how reliable they have been for people, where the power is typically located on the powerband, and what kind of problems people have had with them.

Any other kits I may of missed would be greatly appreciated as well!
thanks for any feedback...

Joseph

You covered most of the companies; most superchargers will give you ~100rwhp depending on the stage/cooling/transmission. You can either run a twin screw setup which will give you a ridiculously flat torque curve and full boost throughout the whole powerband, or you can go with a cheaper centrifugal style which will progress power until redline (hit maximum boost at redline only). Twin screw is arguably the best setup, but with centrifugal superchargers coming down in cost so much recently, it's a hard choice. I am waiting a few months for some holiday specials; if you can pickup a CF style kit for significantly less than a TS, go for it.
Hope this helps

Thanks, that def helps... I'm just trying to put together a good supply of info on the subject so I and others can make informed decisions before they buy.

I've done the searching, if everyone is really that concerned, I could post everything I've found but that isn't the info I'm looking for. I'm looking for unbias info on kits from people that have actually used them not advertized gains and tuned by pros dyno sheets that don't tell the whole story.
And I'm trying to put it all into more of a compilation so who ever is in the market can see all their options on a level playing field, not make uninformed decisions based on partial info on 1 or 2 kits when there are better out there.

your boost curve is most interesting. doesn't boost on a centrifugal charger increase proportionate to the square of rpm? your curve looks linear... are asa chargers somehow different?

you lost me @ increase proportionate to the square of rpm:eeps:

I just know my ASA tm-12(there are tm-15s and even more biggers ones)

is belt driven, clutched..and like MarvelPhnx stated spun w/ a kkk turbo impeller.

gosh that just sounds so good and I love telling people that same line when people ask.

the clutch is kinda like a weed wacker clutch is you ever weed wack"d b4.

thats why Im sooooo00 excited over these new ASA kits that are hitting the m3 market soon.

I love the small mechanical detail about it. the clutched operation, 7k redline, safe 8.5psi. And the magic that happens when boost is fed to the motor. It is sooooo. smooth.
everythings monitored by your own car DME(cpu) And I love that. In my underground parking lot, as soon as I let go of the clutch and start gasing lightly to move my car foward, if done right, every time there is a turbo impeller spinning sound right after the clutch engages on the ASA charger @ 1800k-2k. the sound is to die for.

if you want a unbiased review, Ill tell you what everyone thinks that has had a SCer
thrown in their car just plainly..

can not live without this kind of power in their daily rides.

as for you poison..

I think any company that are willing to go on public boards to take on questions from ass0le and nay-sayers, to even form brand loyalty among their customers tells you that they are doing things right.

Ok Ok, lol
I'll post all the best stuff I've found so far on the various FI kits.
I appreciate the feedback though, I hadn't seen your S/C for dummies post yet, very informative, great to hear such positive and helpful feedback from the companies.
