California Smog Check questions!

So i went to a smog check today, and my car passed everything except the visual....lol. I have a Ben Fer cold air intake, and they listed it as modified. Even though none of the vacume hoses were touched. The idiot said I need a Carb # Does anyone know where I can get one since it never came with the CAI? I figured Id post here since you supercharger / turbo guys probably have to deal with alota **** regarding specs.

if it didn't come with a carb number it probably never got carb approved...you either have to

1) put your stock intake back in just for the inspection
2) get someone's Dinan Intake carb number and put a Dinan sticker on your intake to replace the BenFer sticker
3) bribe the guy to pass the inspection

either of the 3 will work....1 most legal, 2 easiest, 3 if you're lazy and money is not a worry.

I had this problem with my GTI. I took it to 2 smog shops and they didn't even want to put it on the machine. They said that everything on the car was "illegal". I was so mad.

I finally took it to another smog guy, and he looked at it for like 30 minutes and then put it up on the machine and it passed with flying colors. Didn't have to remove anything. I had upgraded software, intake, intercooler, and all other kind of crap in there. For you it's much easier to just put the intake back on and then take it.

Anyone have a Cold Air Intake carb number? I really dont want to go to pep boys, buy an K and N, get the math, and return it the next day....lol

i think the only two CARB cert intakes on the market are ECIS and DINAN, otherwise youre going to swap your stock one unless you find a REAL smog technician who knows his **** and pass you on the visual.

some k&n intakes are carb approved as well.

aFe is carb legal as well now
