Hey guys

Just had a quick question
Few days ago, my iPod has been very distorted on occasion, and when it gets like that there is that very very high pitched whine coming from the speakers

you know what whine i'm talking about..... if your rpms go up/down you can hear that whine go up/down as well

annoying as hell

any thoughts?
i couldn't picture any connections being messed up, all i have is the wire coming from my wiring harness in my trunk to the ipod module, then the wire from there going to the iPod

:dunno:

thank you all

It is picking up alternator noise. If it is exclusive to the ipod try running the wire a different route - as far away as possible from any power wires

Big power wires have a magnetic field, which introduce noise into adjacent audio wires. As sanmiam said, reroute the wires (stay away from the passenger's side, as you have a big wire connecting alternator and battery). If you must cross a big harness or wire, do so at 90 degree angles.

Thanks guys for the replies, but that wire isn't routed down the passenger side

I routed the wire down the driverside sill, then in that little crease in the carpet under my seat, then into the center console

I have the module under my change holder inside the center console, then i have my wire for the ipod coming out on the right hand side near the cupholder (between the center console and the passenger seat)

Wonder if that changes anything.....

trial and error then. It is picking up alty noise from somewhere - just try moving wires/components around until you find a noise free solution. Getting rid of alty noise in a situation like this is a PITA.

If it has been installed for 6 months and just started making noise, and you haven't changed anything else in the car, then maybe there is a problem with the adaptor itself. Try contacting the vendor/manufacturer and see what they say.
