I'm at about 80k miles right now and am thinking in the next year or so about super charging. I love how affordable this kit is. Almost in reach, (still need to save up for it)

I need to research more, figure out all costs involved and see. My concern is I know this adds wear and tear to the engine. I'm at 80k now, is that a little too high for this? should have be a concern? I feel confident in the engine as it is now. Just don't want to kill it. Any advice would be appriciated.
Other questions off the top of my head, do I need to upgrade my brakes to use this safely? Like stop tech or something? And will my MT be ok with stock flywheel/clutch?

:search: and read. 80k is not really high miles, although for the crappy built e46, it might be. Anyhow, the main thing to check for before SCing is the compression of each cylinder. This will give you an idea of the overall health of the engine. This is either a DIY or a professional mechanic can do this with no problems 50-70$ would be my guess. Typically though, if the car has been well maintained, SCing at 80K or even 100K is not a problem. The only thing is, your power may not be as much as lower mileage cars.

There is no specific number of miles where you can and can't supercharge your car. It all depends on the condition of your motor. 80,000 miles is not so bad, but if you want to make sure, like stated above I would get a compression check to see the condition of your motor.

This is what I was thinking would be necessary. I have 131K miles, and my engine pulls stronger now than 2 years ago. However, mileage is mileage and engines will fade eventually. I'm debating an S52 swap, or supercharging. Though the latter seems like it would be more costly.

An s52 swap would be neat, but it may cost similar $$ to what you'd pay for an SC, unless you're doing your own labor, and keeping your own tranny/clutch/flywheel, etc. At the same time you'd need some work done to the s52 to get it moving at what you'd put out with an SC.
I boosted my car at 167k miles, and now have almost 5k miles on the kit. :hi:

thanks for the insight, I will do more Searching and reading. I'll probably do a compression test in the next month or two, there's a driving school I want to go to in Oct, so I'll need an inspection for that.
