Power is power, doesn't matter if it's achieved via normally aspirated means, supercharger, or nitrous.
What he has to do is make sure that he sets up the system safely.
If he's interested then tell him to sign up to the forum and do a :search: in the FI forum for nitrous, there's a few threads in there with helpful information. He needs to educate himself on the topic before he fcuks up his car.

Tell your brother NOS is a waste! Your always out Right when you need it, the bottles never warm enough or you keep cranking it up till you blow something!
Better off to spend the money on some NA parts..... just my .02 cents:dunno:

That statement is completely unfounded.

As long as the car is setup correctly/safely and you have the car tuned for it, why not? He wouldn't be the first guy to run nitrous on an e46.

That statement is completely unfounded.
Why do you say that?
This has been my experience both times I've ran nitrous. It's a great boost in power and will make you smile from ear to ear, BUT it doesn't last. If someone wants to do the 1/4 mile or just be able to say "I got NOS", then by all means, throw it on there.
If you want "real" power that doesn't run out, then from my experience, I would suggest other types of power adders.
That being said, NOS is a very cheap way to get a huge increase in hp and might work great for someone else!?

It has it's place, you "get" that from experience. However I personally recommend FI over N/A mods every time the subject comes up. (And I'm an N/A guy)
FI to me seems the way to go to get the most out of your money.

You've only ran it twice, what did you have a 200 shot and a 2 pound bottle?
I have had nitrous in my car for 10 months and run it about 1 once a week. I also run a 150 wet shot, and my bottle last me about 4 weeks. When the bottle is empty I get it refilled ( I have a 200 pound tank in my garage). My 200 pound bottle cost me 1.50 a pound and I am still on one tank.
I am also correctly tuned, wideband, opened exhaust, s/w custom tuned blah blah blah.
I also conduct a compression test every 6 months, and I am still in the spec range.

No..... I ran it on two different cars.
First car was a 98 Dodge Stratus. 75shot... I could beat GSR's all day long and it was fun as hell but I went through 2-3 bottles a week because you get used to having the power...and it sucked when you gotta say "can't race ya, my bottles empty"
2nd car was my supercharged 06 Mustang GT. With the supercharger it had 560hp.... The nitrous was an additional 100hp shot.

I'm just a fan of having the power there all the time without it being in a bottle....i.e..... Supercharger, Turbo, NA.... That's just what I prefer.:pimpin:

^Why did you let the Mustang go? I'm not a huge Mustang fan, but that's pretty nice.

And the mustang is getting a heart transplant.
Livernois stroked, balanced and forged long block with stage 3 heads and cams. The supercharger is also going to be cranked up to
around 18lbs. of boost!! "It's aLiVe!!!!!!!!:excited:
No more nitrous......shootin for 750-800hp to the crank..

It's still in the family!!
Mustang/BMW.....??? For a daily driver I choose BMW!!!
The Stang was starting to be "not fun" to drive. It had a 3200 stall in it and 3.90 gears and was just not fun as a DD.....Now on the weekends, it was damn fun!!! I'm pretty sure its gonna be much, MUCH funner to drive come spring!

Yeah....going to long tubes. The stockers flow pretty good on the S197 stangs.

Not a big fan of Mustangs, but that ones pretty sweet.
Once its done, what will you have into it to get those HP figures? ($$)
Im just curious as to how MUCH cheaper it is to mod something like this as opposed to an E46 M3.

Motor: Around $9000
Tranny: about $4200
Already have around $16,000 in it with the suspension, stereo, supercharger and all the little stuff(exhaust,converter,wheels/tires...etc.)

How off topic can a thread get? LOL.
Nice Mustang BTW.
To the OP...Nitrous is ricey? I wonder if the US bombers using nitrous in WWII had neon vinyl decals.
How about all the american metal running juice? Are they rice too?
BMW is a brand. A great brand, but still only a brand. It doesn't give you class, make you smarter, or better looking. So don't be a BMW tool. If your brother wants N20 than have him do his research and do it right. ObsessedM3, me, and kiloil are always available for questions.
