This is probably a stupid question but... A supercharger wont pass smog in California will it? It wont even pas the visual inspection right? What about CAI will they pass? Just curious because I was looking to go to FI and well I live in the most fascist state in the country.

Supercharger: Almost positive none have CARB numbers, so no they won't pass.

CAI: I don't see any of them that are carb legal for the 330. Half of the smog techs don't care about intakes though, they may just look the other way...

Well actually i already have a Gruppe M intake so i was kind of curious as to whether or not i would have to swap it out for the stock air box if i get smoged... although its really not much hassle to change the thing out.

ESS is in the process of getting their TS kits CARB certified. It isn't real clear as to how much longer it's going to take them but but you can read a couple of these threads:

hmmm well i wasn't really looking into TS kits... more into the AA kit. If i were to go with that would I be able to just take the blower off for the smog check and not put the whole thing back to stock?

I thought the K&N CAI (for the M3) had gotten its CARB exemption.

It probably did. I just checked a list of 330 intakes and none (other than a $40 K&N filter) had CARB numbers or were carb exempt...

ECIS is a CARB Legal air intake. The only S/C I know that is smog legal is Dinan's. Illegal Smog Check FTW LOL!

Thanks for the feedback guys. It doesn't look like dinan makes the S/C for a 330 only the m3... So there has to be people in CA that have superchargers, what do you guys do when its time to smog?

Until "The Guy" you know ends up in prison for 7 years for committing a federal offense. I hate when that happens!

It's a friggin SHAME that Dinan doesn't offer a S/C kit for the E46 330.
