Howdy, I'm currently unable to proceed on my install until I get this figured out. Currently, I'm at the part of the install where I put in a valve in the purge valve's spot. I'm really quite unsure about this step.
1. Is the purge valve the thing with the rubber mount that you move to get to the oil separator?
2. When installing this, what is the process? As far as I can tell, it goes...
- Unclip plastic hose in the bottom
- Cut rubber line off of purge valve
- Connect brass thing with arrows on it to the rubber hose with the arrows facing that hose
-
- Profit
Any help you guys could give would really help me out. I would like to put a few more hours into this install tonight.

Hey Austin.... just got your voicemail. Tried calling everyone I knew that might have an idea, no luck, as in no one picked up.
Anyways, here is what I found via a quick search. :hi:

Don't worry, I searched a little and haven't had any success. I took a picture to try and make things more clear.

Is that the old purge valve? Do I get rid of it? Am I doing things totally wrong? Someone please chime in.

Can you take a wider picture so I can see exactly where you are in the process?

The new oil separator line is installed. I put the oil rail back in place, and installed the rear supercharger support. The purge valve step is right in between those two.

Ok, I hope I did this right, someone chime in and let me know if I didn't.

Good to know. That ish was driving me crazy. Hats off to AA for terrible instructions.

Onto my next question... It seems like things are easier after this point, but this is kind of unclear.
AA asks me to take off a rubber plug to expose a vacuum nipple, and then slide on a new vacumm line for routing to the blow off valve. I can't say as I have any idea where that vacuum nipple is, or if I even have said pipe. All i have left at this point is a shaped hose with some clamps on it, and the oil lines for the traction fluid. Knowledgeable people, please chime in.

Wait, is the line they're referring to the one that comes pre-assembled on the snail pipe?
zeshon
11-24-2007, 05:09 PM
How is there no one who has installed an AA supercharger online right now? Seriously?
Another question, my dad removed the ECU without disconnecting the battery first. Is that going to trip an imobalizer, or anything else detrimental?
Activ3
11-24-2007, 08:17 PM
You're fine for the ECU.
The vacum line nipple is going to be located on the back of your intake manifold, you kind of have to feel for it. They should've provided you with a vacum line that will connect to the bypass valve.

The only rubber thing I have found in the back (I assume the back is on the firewall side), and it is flat. Would the line already be attached to the pipe woth the active logo on it?
zeshon
11-24-2007, 11:31 PM
OK, I'm an idiot. That ish was easy to find, but now how do you seat the hose on there? I can BARELY get my hand back there, there is no way I'm gonna press fit a hose on. How did you guys get it on there?
Activ3
11-25-2007, 11:03 AM
The hose should be a small vacum line, and it doesn't attach to the intake pipe with the AA logo on it, it attaches to the AA bypass valve. If you already have your intake pipe off and your firewall loose, you can get a hand in from the side and above.
zeshon
11-25-2007, 11:27 AM
Hrm, which component is the bypass valve then? I'm wicked confused again.
Activ3
11-25-2007, 12:11 PM
The bypass valve is the black/silver unit that attaches to pipe that connects to your throttle body. That pipe has a flange where the bypass valve attaches with two screws. The BPV is silver on the bottom and black on top, and has an AA logo etched on the top of the black part. It may have already come installed on to the pipe.

That's what I thought. I'm gonna run outside and have a look at what parts I have. I'm pretty sure my only remaining vacuum line I had was the one that came pre-attached to the intake snail, but I have been wrong before.
Do you have AIM or anything?
EDIT I forgot I had another hose with a T fitting, is that what I'm looking for?

That's the BPV and the vacum line attached to it. Yours won't have the T-splitter though, I have that for my boost gauge.

Ok, cool, it is the tube I thought it was. Thanks for looking that up for me. Now to finish the job and... wait two weeks before I can test it... My ECU doesn't come until tomorrow, and I will have to be back at school by then T_T.
I assume I'll be back with more questions though because I am obviously retarded.

Well, I'm back at it, and still having issues... I have two questions for now.
The turnbuckle provided by AA is creating more problems the solutions for me, and it seems like I can just toss it. Do I really need to use it?
Secondly, I'm trying to mount the pipe for the bypass valve from the throttle body, but there is no room around what appears to be the coolant temperature sensor. :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead: I can't seem to get the pipe into the elbow, and beyond that, I'm not sure how I'm going to mount the second elbow to the compressor. Included is a pic of the spot I'm talking about and the offending sensor.
The turnbuckle is very necessary for adjusting SC belt later on.
Activ3

That sensor can be loosened and placed a little below. Just pull up on it, and the rubber mount will slide out, allowing you to mount the pipe. Mount the pipe to the TB first, but don't tighten the hose clamps yet. Then mount the elbow to the other end of the pipe, but again, don't tighten the clamps. Then slide the coupling on to the pipe, and then on to the actual supercharger. Once you have it fitted, you can now tighten everything. Mounting this pipe is the hardest part of the install IMO, so good luck :)
Oh, and yes you need that turnbuckle, it will help you align the system once it's installed.

Glad I asked about the turnbuckle. I'll magic it back on and try and get the piping on. I'm sure I'll be back with more questions. Thanks for the help.

K, I must be stupid because I'm still stuck on this turnbuckle. I backtracked to the point of installing it, put it in, and now I have the blower and idler re-mounted. Now I'm trying to figure out how to adjust the turnbuckle itself. The inner radius on the actual support arm is smaller than that of the snail pipe or the blower itself, so it seems like it will create a boost leak if I actually install it. Secondly, I'm not sure if the arm is supposed tp go straight up, or adjust horizontally. Straight up makes the most sense, but I cant seem to position the sub-assembly to push straight up. Rather, the best I can do is make it push diagonally at an angle. This piece is really confusing me. Also, I believe Active has shorted me one of the vacuum lines. There is one line that runs from the back of the intake manifold to the blow off valve, and another one that runs from the valve to the snail pipe. I guess I'm gonna need to call them about that tomorrow, as I only have one of them. This kit had really better be worth it because so far it's earned a huge :thumbdwn:

There shouldn't be a vacuum line running to the snail pipe, only to the BOV. I don't remember which way I installed the turnbuckle (above or underneath the hose clamps that hold the pipe to the blower), but I'll check tomorrow morning and let you know.

I made several phone calls to them. The only people there who have treated me moderately well are Sami and Barry. Barry especially has been a great help to me. Thanks to him we found out active sent me the stuff for a 330, instead of a 328. Not only were they 7 weeks past their estimated ship date, they didn't even send the right stuff. Now I have been delayed two days more because of that fvck up. I really want stage 2 when it comes out, but part of me never wants to give them money again.
Good luck Sheefo on the install. Hope that ASA kit treats you well.

well thats not talk about ASA lol because they dont exist anymore..
anyways last night intercooler went in smoothly with all the pipping into the throttle body and up in to the supercharger.
taking a break till wednesday to finish it off wednesday or thursday.. then wait for the DME//

Updates are as follows.
Active shipped me my vacuum line, and that's installed. My girlfriend had to work on into the break so I spent the last two nights with her instead of my car, but I intend to finish up tomorrow. The injectors and ECU are in. All thats left is reinstalling the blower, idler, belt, and a bit of piping and some vacuum lines. I anticipate I will be finishing up tomorrow soon after present time. I have 7 liters of 0W40, 2 liters of Royal Purple Dif fluid, a fuel filter, and my NGK iridiums left to put in, but all in all I'm almost done. I'll be posting a new thread with my full reflections on the project with pictures as soon as I'm completed.

Latest updates:
I worked on it a bit today, but need to call active and ask them about some vacuum lines. I snapped the 90* fitting for the purge valve, so had to get a clamp and secure the two halves of the hoses together. I finally got the turnbuckle adjusted properly though. Tomorrow I'll re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re mount the blower and idler, hopefully install the BPV and the last of the piping, and start it up. We'll see if active proves helpful.

Latest update. Finally got the thing running, i had to have our friendly neighborhood mechanic come out and help me finish up. We had to cut the snail pipe, and all of the elbows, but we made it work eventually. Since starting it up, I have had nothing but issues.
Firstly, I am throwing all of these error codes (Peake Tool):
1. EVAP hose leak (This is old)
2. AD : Motorized Throttle (MDK) short between pots
3. AC : Pedal sensor (PWG) short between potentiometers
4. A9 : Motorized throttle (MDK) final stage failure
5. 6E : Pedal sensor (PWG) potentiometer #1
6. 6F : Pedal sensor (PWG) potentiometer #2
7. 70 : Motorized throttle valve (MDK) potentiometer #1
8. 71 : Motorized throttle valve (MDK) potentiometer #2
9. 45 : Electrical fuel pump relay
10. Oxy sensor adaptation limit, Cyl #4-6
Also, I have two distinct noises coming from my engine bay.
1. The first noise is like a strange high pitched whistle that comes on at about 2400 RPMS
2. The second noise is a really loud roar after I stop hard acceleration.
The oil lines are warm, so I'm inclined to think it's a boost leak somewhere rather than a bearing in the supercharger grinding. I'll call active tomorrow and see what they say, but i would love to hear some feedback.

Sounds like you may have blown a fuse for the throttle... open your ecu compartment and check all of the fuses in the little black box there. The roar is probably the bypass valve, and the whistling is pretty normal as well..
zeshon
12-28-2007, 11:03 AM
it's ****ing loud though. It wasn't very loud at all the first 20 miles or so, then it got really loud. I think a hose popped off post supercharger, which really sucks. I'll check my fuses in the ECU box today, and see what active has to say.

K, I'm pretty sure there is nothing wrong vaccum wise, and I think that the error messages are either related to my MAF or my angel eyes blowing everything up. I'll do further diagnosis later. Time to make the 100 mile journey back home.
