I already have a set of 5.25" Infinity Kappa Perfects but I have decided to not use them since they need at least 100 watts rms. I have decided to just use an entry level speaker that will only handle 45 to 60 watts rms at 2ohms.

I have the BSW rings that allow the use of 5.25" speakers so im going to stick w/ that size since everone says its a PIA to use 6.5" in our cars.

QUESTION...
What will perform better w/ the stock non HK amp? I assume our stock speakers are 4ohm, if I install 2 ohm speakers will I utilize and draw more power out of our factory amps?

Between JBL/Infinity (same company) I can choose a component setup that has a "max power" rating of 45, 55, and 60 watts rms. Peak is over 100 watts but im not concerned w/ peak power.

Why JBL/Infinity??? They are a customer of mine out in Northridge, ca and my deals are amazing :yikes: so let me know if any of you need anything.

Thanks guys,
MO

Hey Mo.. Why not compliment those kappa's with a JBL GTO752? ;)

Im just lazy to install an amp right now. Maybe if I can find the wiring diagram for the factory amp I would do it.

the stock non h/k speakers were actually 2ohms so you should be fine using any fairly efficient 2ohm speakers. 90db's and higher would be best because the stock amp is not very powerfull with 25-35 watts per channel at best? don't worry too much about max power handling in this case just look at efficiency and listen to a few models to get an idea of what sounds the best to you.

Thanks, this is the answer I have been looking for:) Since im going to be lazy and use the factory amp for now, I am going to use the low end JBL two way 5.25" speaker. I get them for about $16 a pair. Even the High end JBL stuff only costs me $95 a pair. Thats in the future though. I am also going to stay away from Infinity. Tuning their components are out of my league.
