I'm doing the same...
Good speakers - very subjective. Up front you have 6.25", 2.5" and a 5/8" tweeter (I think 5/8). You're pretty much going to scrap the 2.5" unless you go with a 3-way component system such as the DLS UP36 (which are in the top class of components). You can fit a 5.25" component or 6.5" both of which will require some modification to fit in the factory location.
You can by (ebay, bsw, euro) adapter plats to fit 5.25" or 6.5" or you can use MDF and make / buy adapter rings which you mount to the door.
I THINK (hopefully someone can confirm this for me because I'm still trying to figure this out) - the adapter plastic rings mount to the door panel and the speaker mounts to the door panel, NOT THE DOOR. The MDF rings serve as spacers which mount to the DOOR and allow you to mount your woofer in the door, not mounted to the door panel. Is that right?
Anyway... plan on an amp to power you new components.
And many argue that the rear speakers (6.5" for non harman, 6x9 sub for harman) should not be used as they do not help maintain a forward center stage.. I for one plan on putting in 6.5" coaxles and lower the amp gain and filter highs...
Happy shopping.
