Have an iPod and a BMW? Then you've probably heard about the exceptional DICE iPod integration kit (http://www.bavariansoundwerks.com/category/282/0/BMW-iPod-Integration/), which provides a direct, CD-quality connection to your vehicle's audio system and control over your iPod through your BMW's radio and steering wheel controls.
Well, it just got better with the new, updated DICE SILVERLINE iPod integration Kit.
The DICE SILVERLINE builds upon the success of the original DICE iPod integration kit and operates in almost the same exact way, but adds some new, very exciting features.
How has the SILVERLINE been improved and updated?
- You can now browse by Artist!
- Text information now displays when browsing by playlist, artist, and album, so you know exactly where you are on your iPod
- iPod controls now locked out unless device is operated in "Simple" mode, which eliminates text display but unlocks iPod.
But forget a list! Here is each kit in operation so you can SEE the difference:

When will the DICE SILVERLINE be ready?
Very soon. The DICE SILVERLINE product still has some minor kinks being worked through that prevent its sale to the public. (We've seen other vendors selling "prototype" kits with these bugs). However, we expect the kit to be released very soon based on estimates provided by DICE Electronics, as early as January 14th. We'll be the FIRST to have these bug-free kits available for public sale.
If you'd like to be notified when the kit is bug-free and ready for sale, click here to be added to our DICE SILVERLINE waiting list. (http://www.bavariansoundwerks.com/dicesilverlineWL.php)

EDIT: Sorry, I think this question should be directed elsewhere. Cheers.

If you want to use the clickwheel, you probably don't want the Silverline as it locks out all iPod controls unless operated in "Simple" mode which requires that you give up text display.
We do not sell the radio end kits. If you have a radio end kit, you probably purchased it from eas (www.europeanautosource.com) and would need to speak with them about getting vehicle specific installation instructions.

What happes to the customers who have purchased the OLD Dice kit ? I got mine only 2 days ago, and If I knew about the excistance of this new kit, I would of waited for the release .... I only navigate through the ALBUM mode, and since this new Dice shows the ALBUM name, I would of DEFENETLEY got the new one ....

We can upgrade just the module :) Will be significantly cheaper and all the plugs and connections are exactly the same.

Very true about the lag..I would almost prefer to use the clickwheel all the time...Im still debating on whether to purchase DICE or just go with the Auxiliary input.

At first i was olike no! But I woul dprefer the old one after seeing the video. It locks out control and the scanning still takes a few seconds to display things.

looks like intravee is the only unit able to display the info immediately... but i think it is only able to do so by caching? just speculating.

Display is imediate if within the cache, or about 0.5 seconds if outside it.

Has anyone ever used the USA spec Ipod interface? And if so what are the pros and cons. I need my Ipod in my car soon, but don't know which one to buy, Dice or USA spec.

Gents, for those concerned about the lag (yes, it's there), remember that you can operate the SILVERLINE kit in Simple mode.
This keeps the iPod unlocked and provides INSTANT response to inputs on the radio. You lose text display, but in my opinion it really doesn't do much for you since you have to wait to see what you're listening to anyway, and by the time you hear it, you already know whether or not you want to listen to it. :)
Simple mode bridges the gap by offering very quick response and an unlocked iPod. :)

It definitely works. It just lacks the features of the DICE kits.
On the flip side the support available from sponsors of this forum and our pdf and video install guides the choice is clear :)
Get a DICE kit.
We have a deal for forum members. Information is in my signature!

So, whats the point of buying Silverline if you dont use the text?
Would a normal Dice just be cheaper and easier?
