How can one test the boost on a supercharger or turbo?

Just like it says. How can one test the boost on a supercharger or turbo after its installed. Starting to learn a lil more about these before I jump in and get one for my 2001 330 convertible.

What I have read you get the PSI by hooking the guage up to the vacume hose with a T-splitter so that you have the guage coming of one of the ends? Is this correct?
