We took comments and suggestions from this forum and made some changes to our previous exhaust design. We decided to go with quad tips instead of dual tips. We also chose the discolored tips as well based on the feedback we received. What we did that was unique was to shape the tips so they not only follow the contour of the car from left to right, but also from top to bottom as you can see in the pictures below.

Many "titanium" exhausts are made of stainless steel with titanium tips or titanium mufflers. Not these. All of the piping is titanium, the tips are titanium, even the bolts, clamps and hangers are titanium. This allowed us to get the weight down to 6.3 lbs (factory is 52.3 lbs) for a 46 lb weight savings.

These systems do not have mufflers, so they flow extremely well. The downside is they are a bit louder and we recommend only running them with a turbo as the turbo acts as a muffler. They will certainly work for track use for a non-turbo'd M3, but I wouldn't recommend them for the street unless you have a turbo.

Here's a link to these exhaust systems on our site... http://www.horsepowerfreaks.com/sale/HorsepowerFreaks/Exhaust/Exhaust_Systems/part/E46_M3_Titanium

If anyone has any questions about this exhaust or any other products, feel free to email david@horsepowerfreaks.com.

Definitely a great option for the guys that want LOUD (VERY LOUD).

Also should go great with your turbo kits, seems like a nice match up.

kinda worried noise wise haha.. the last TI exhaust i had was the Gruppe M Ti exhaust and that was too loud (think it was something like 100db).. couldnt stand it when i get out of the car my ears are still ringing for quite some time.. hope this exhaust isnt that loud.. the exhaust looks really good though..

Ardika... This exhaust won't be the one on your "stage 3". Yours will sound a bit deeper and it does have a resonator to quiet it down just a tad.

I will definitely have some sound clips with it. Maybe we will bolt it onto Brian's M3 for some sound clips. :)

does this setup go along with the stage 3?

or is it something seperate you need to buy? Cause that should sound like a beast with basically straight pipe off of the downpipe.

I'm definitely worried about the noise being that I'm not FI and don't really plan to be but that is a badass setup and I'd love to try it.

Stage 3 comes with it's own 4" exhaust with similar tips. Stage 1 and 2 don't come with an exhaust system (just a downpipe). This particular exhaust system doesn't come with any stages of our turbo kit. It's a bolt up to any factory midpipe and can be used on any E46 M3.

That's basically just some straight pipes. I could get this done at a muffler shop for under 300 dollars. It probably wouldn't be titanium but I really don't see how that matters at all when it comes to straight pipes which are super light anyways.

We may do some power comparisons between the stock exhaust, AP exhaust and our new exhaust. It would be nice to know the differences in power. If you do prefer the HPF exhaust, we can certainly do that for you Brian.

I would have liked to have seen this more reasonably priced, $1500 seems excessive.

Look at the craftsmanship and quality, I expected it to cost DOUBLE! For $1,500, the price is right!

Thanks. Yes... Titanium is VERY expensive these days, and for a 6 lb exhaust of this quality I feel we've priced it a bit on the low side.

We have a bunch of exhaust systems here, and if we have time we may test them all against each other. We have an AA, Dinan, HPF, AP, and stock. That would be real interesting to see them all compared on the same day. We're very very busy, and may not get a chance to do it this week, but if time frees up we will.

One of our "do it yourself" customer's in Washington just installed his HPF turbo system himself in 2.5 days and drove his car down here to say hello. He said his highway mileage went from 25mpg to 33mpg. :)

I know that Ti is really hard to work with and bend it like regular alu or steel aint an option. I can for sure tell you that those sharp bends make backpressure.
But then again the fueltank might be in the way or your welder is just to lazy to smoothen out the bends.

Something like this.
http://forum.e46fanatics.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=260552&stc=1&d=1203708252

Guess its better then the oem muffler but not for pure performance.

Yes... that would be ideal if a gas tank wasn't in the way. :)

So the HPF Stage 2 is completely plug and play? No tuning required?

So the HPF Stage 2 is completely plug and play? No tuning required?

Thanks for the question... Our EMS's are designed to control the methanol for stage 2 without any tuning required. HOWEVER....We only turn it on if the customer has stage 2. So, if the customer has stage 1 and wants to upgrade to stage 2, they need to send us their EMS and we'll change the map to control the methanol. If the customer is going directly to stage 2, everything will come pre-programmed. Does that make sense?

Chris.

Sounds good. The install is pretty easy. The stage 2 video production we did showed the installation time with the clock on the right side. :) Customers should be able to upgrade their stage 1's to 2's quite easily.
