ESS is the only set up that works well with the xi be ready to drop 7 grand on it and maybe another 2 for install......
theres better ways to spend the money if you wanted that kinda power you should have got an M

damni got excited looking at thte AA super charger for the 325i. thought it would fit right in with hte xi but i guess not. And yeah i made a mistake gettin this 3 so idecided to make the best of it rather tahn buyin a new m. Well the car is technically my brothers but in case it comes back in my hands i plan on charging it.

I have talked to some one on this forum that used to have a 330xi supercharged and he said the car ran great with no problems. He had been running it for awhile to. Its just you can't run to much psi though. I wouldn't go over 7.

Why will no other companies superchargers work with an xi? Whats the difference?

from what i have heard the power delivery has to be extremely smooth, the power that most chargers or turbos drop in isnt good with the awd, this is just what i have read i am by no means an expert but i was planning on doing the same thing and after the research decided against it and to use my money on other things

I have been doing a bit of research on this topic myself. There are a couple of Superchargers that work well with the XI. The best one i have found is the VF supercharger. The key to any performance parts add ons is the tuning you give the car after the surgery. I am in contact with a couple xi owners that have the VF up and running. So far they love them and have nothing but good things to say. I have been advised on going with after market cams along with the upgrade.
and about the suggestions with you should of gone with an M. I wouldn't go that far. The M engine has its own set of problems. It is not a solution in a box.

I don't have a SC but my $0.02 from various XI research:
There's been a lot of discussion about the X-drive system in terms of handling power but I haven't seen anything to indicate a weakness that wouldn't allow a supercharger. The rear diff is the same as any other 3-series and the transfer case itself is more than capable for the increased torque (see this (http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=518946&highlight=transfer+case+torque) thread. Like Col said above, just make sure you have it tuned well and I don't think you'd have a problem.

I've got a 330i I'm planning on blowing (just over half way saved up) with the ESS TS2 kit. One of the biggest things that kept me away from the M3 was that there is no E46 M3 sedan

DriveSlowRideLow huh?
I did a lot of research on super chargers before doing a 3.0 swap on my 325xit. Now after 20k miles with the 3.0 I am considering a twin screw SC. As far as I know any of the competently produced SC will work just fine with an xi provided that it has a manual transmission. Only a few people are willing to do SC with a 2WD automatic and I haven't heard of anyone (currently) that will sell a SC for a 4WD auto.
It could be argued that the extra horsepower and torque gained exceeds the handling capacity of the xi front drive train. However, I expect that this would only be an issue for the most lead footed street racer. One could easily mitigate this by driving with some sensible restraint. For some here that's probably impossible. I can see how a SC manufacturer or installer might prefer not to sell to xi owners in fear that they would be liable for repairs.

Hello,
We do have a kit for the E46 325 Xi.
It is not listed on our site. However we can build a kit for the XI, other than a few different pipes since the front diff is in the way. There really isnt a big difference in the kit.

We've done ESS TS1 install on '04 325XiA and it works absolutely beautifully. Fit and finish are phenomenal, power delivery is smooth and very linear with no lag, it just pulls in any gear in any RPM, similar to 540 or 740 would. I can't speak highly enough of the kit, from start to finish it was a great job with great results. Owner is REALLY happy.

Anyone have any info about a 325xi manual with a ts2?

Hey guys, i've got a auto e46 330xi supercharged with a vortech ess unit running 7 psi. i've had a complete rebuild due to my engine blowing also. i've probably got about 380 with all the mods. and so far my drive train has been juuuuust fine. i've had the charger on for at least a good 20,000 miles now, and the only thing i'm worried about is when the step will go.

Really?!?! Have you dyno'd? I just dyno'd mine the other day... im quite disappointed. I have Headers, K&N intake System, and Performance Coils. I'm also running Mobil 1 Euro 0w-40. I only put down 203hp and 203lb/s tq. The drivetrain in the Xi loses a lot of power. You should put it on a dyno, dynojet has is has AWD dyno's.
Have you upgraded your clutch or flywheel? I think replacing the dual mass flywheel with a single mass one would help out quite a bit.
Also how did the install cost? hours of labor?

EDIT
wow... i just noticed where you are from.... Where did you have it installed?!? Curry's Auto? Should meed up sometime, i'd really like to check install out, and maybe u could take me for a ride. I'm in Manassas. I'll PM you.

you don't wanna know about the labor. supercharger install alone cost me over 2 grand because of some custom work that had to be done. the cost of blowing my head gasket and getting that replaced was almost 3 grand. blowing out my pistons and getting new oversized forged ones over 4 grand. needless to say, i've pent a FORTUNE on getting this car to where it is.
can you believe mines only a step. no clutch and no fly. an all-wheel slushy that can beat an m3 cs isn't that embarrassing, don't you think?
