I installed an AA supercharger on my 2002 330ci. It had 60000mi. I did a leakdown test before installing it and all cylinders were 10/10. Leak was below 8% on cold engin.
The only limit for boosting is your wallet. First ask how much money you want to put on your ride then select the appropriate boost level. No matter what as you increase boost your engine`s life is always shortened. Even if you boost only 6psi at some level your engine (or tranny) will die sooner.
It seems that 330ci engines are very tough and the ECU is very smart to prevent knocking. I don't want to abuse it so I settled for 8psi since it is my daily driver too. I hope to put 200000mi on the engine. But likely a concrete wall will finish it before the engine dies (so I also installed a full rollcage inside).
If you want record high HP numbers buy a Dodge Viper. Nothing will beat it. You will be able to ride a 900rwhp car every day to work.

Installe ESS TS2 w/ 8 psi @ 35000 miles. I'm at 48000 now with no problems. 6 speed manual holds the power very well.

Rolled past 100,000 miles driving home from the install... AA SC @ 8psi on my 2001 325i. Drives and look like it's brand new (original owner and I've pampered it like crazy).

Hello,
I would recommend checking the wear and tear condition of the engine. Like a few stated leak down test, rubber hoses that need to be changed after "X" amount of mileage and the motors overall health. If the motor is in good condition the mileage when going with a super charger will not matter. Although if the motor has a problem and is down on power stock, the kit will not help you in any way.

thanks for the response if i eventually choose to pursue the s/c path i will most definatly without question do a compression and leakdown test
its just boosting at a somewhat high milage raised questions on the strength of the motor itsellf
have you guys as a company pushed an m54 to the limit of blowing up/apart?
