We actually have a quite a few customers with Step trannies using out kits. However we do our best to educate the buyer that a step transmission is weaker than a manual. Chances are the transmission will fail prematurely and may go faster depending on how the car is driven.

A few customers are going 5+ years strong and other have hads the transmission give out after a few thousand miles.

According to AJ, the TS1 will be safe for your steptronic transmission. It was covered in one of the threads when a similar question was asked. :)

If you have a heavy foot almost any auto transmission will give faster than stick and much faster supercharged. I'm not sure if any sponsors sell heavy duty trans parts (they probably have heavy duty trans cooler), which might improve longevity.

i slam on the accelerator about once a week, less if i supercharge.

i have a s/c step.
i drive really hard....and it doesn't help since almost all my driving is city driving.
never had any real problems besides letting my car warm up fully and trying to gun it....your tranny sometimes goes into limp mode (it'll have a ! in front of your tranny thing such as !M1 or !D or !N etc.) but to get rid of that, turn off the car for about a minute, and turn it back on again.
but because i'm wanting more power, i'm planning to do a manual swap in the future.

Hi, I've posted in few other threads... but I'll do it again.

I've had my SC installed over 5000 km now. When the car is cold i never push it. Also when it's cold the transmission feels bit jerky, but as soon as it heats up it's all good. When i drive hard i always use SD or M.
I had my transmission oil changed after SC'ing. My car had only 60000 km on it at that time and the oil was almost black.

My car has gone into limp mode few times, but as previously stated it's easily corrected by tuning the car off and on again.

I'd definitely like to swap to manual if someone did the swap for me, but as long as the auto tranny lasts i wont bother. When i goes i'll start to look for tranny swap and another upgrade for the SC.

I wanna see a video S/Ced 330ci's racing one step - the other Manual!! Now that would be a keeper. It would also stop 90% of these posts!!

lol yea i would love to see that. but why does it go into limp mode? because it detects a failure or its trying to prevent a failure? how much PSI are you guys pushing?

I have a VF Engeering S/C'd 330Ci and I don't regret it one bit. I always drive in Sports or Step mode and even D when I'm lazy. I got it 2 months ago and there seems to be no problems at all and you can definitely feel the power and I love the roar and whistle and 20mph or less going through a community.

On the freeway, downshifting on a step is awesome!! I brought it to about 6800RPM no problem and VF has always been known to be reliable and they are there if any help is needed.

Obviously, with a S/C'd step car, you will whoop any 330Ci or ZHP manual if it's not S/C'd. Of course I think about having a manual sometimes, but w/e you know. Having a BMW in the 1st place is because of God's graces and I can't complain while people are suffering in 3rd world countries and I'm complaining about having an S/C step you know??

^6 PSI VFEngineering spent years to develop a reliable kit that works on stock components and doesn't put too much stress on a stock engine.

Driveability is EXACTLY like stock until you need it and then its GAME OVER sooo sweet.

VF say stage 1 makes 330hp and 275tq . I think whp will be around 260-270 due to drivetrain loss of the step . the kit is sitting in my room i can't wait to install it . I'm step too .

I have an ASA S/C on my 01 Step. Its 6.5psi and it puts down ~265whp. I have driven the crap out of it at autocross events, and I've taken it to big tracks like Willow Springs and Buttonwillow. My friend Vince has an S/C on his step and he's driven it even harder at numerous track events. Both of ours are still holding up .

My dyno numbers for AA stg1 C38 kit where 284,2(whp)@6300 and 244,6(ft-lbs)@5450. In addition I've got eisenmann race exhaust with straight pipes. I'm happy with the results :D

That's great to hear , do u have a video of your car or your friend's car in action ? I would love to see an in-car vid showing the acceleration of a charged 330 step .

i had my 323i supercharged when it was step.. lasted about 15k miles but the transmissions are known to be crap so cant say the supercharger caused it to fail, although it didn't help

I have the technik setup 6.5psi running on a 2001 E46 M54B25 with 5HP19 ZF. Supercharged since 03, tracking the car since 03, competing in NASA TT since mid 06.

No problems whatsoever.
