Hey people. By now, I hope you've all seen our wildly popular E46 (non-M, non-Xi) torque spec card. They're moving like crazy at $5.00 each - thanks so much. We ran an introductory special offering them free with any $20 purchase if you used the proper coupon.

This weekend, though (4-18 through 4-20), we'll send you one for free with ANY purchase regardless of value. Even if it's not a stock item, we'll drop a card in the mail to you.

To make it even more appealing - no coupon code needed. So long as you enter your vehicle information and it is an E46 Non M, Non Xi, we'll automatically send you a card at no cost.

Stop digging through manuals and online write ups just to find one torque spec. We put more than 60 of the most common specs on one double-sided card. Each card comes in a protective, clear plastic sleeve. There is NO REASON you should not have one of these in your tool collection.

Not sure what to buy? Allow me to tell you what your fellow Fanatics are buying most frequently:

1. Peake Research BMW-Specific scan tools. Stop guessing when your check engine light comes on, and stop trusting the kid at the auto parts store. They don't know your BMW like Peake does. Anything else isn't giving you the most accurate diagnostic information, period. Our Peake prices are low and include FREE priority shipping for domestic orders. www.bmwscantools.com to go directly to that page.

2. Our EXCLUSIVE Front Control Arm Bushing Removal Tool or Tool Kit. So simple, effective, and affordable, you'll wonder why you'd ever do the job any other way. Click the pic for details:

3. A 17mm Protected Impact Socket - don't eff up your nice rims with that rusty old socket. These impact-rated, thin-wall, deep sockets have a protective nylon sleeve built in to prevent scratching. Click the pic to go to our specialty socket page:

4. Motive Products Black Label Brake Bleeder: Quite simply, the best quality and value in brake bleeders you'll find out there. High end features like a swivel joint and anodized aluminum cap make it a no brainer. We sell these at absolute manufacturer's minimum pricing. Click the pic:

5. Don't forget the complete line of UUC performance products. We are proud to be a UUC dealer. If you can't find something they carry on our site, email me - we can get it.

Ken,

Can the pictured Motive Brake Bleeder be used to perform oil changes as well? Or, on the other hand, can the Motive Fluid Extractor be used to perform brake jobs? Which would you recommend if they both perform both duties? What about the MityVac? Basically, as you may have guess, I'm looking to get a decent fluid extractor that can take care of both brake jobs and oil changes, if possible.

Thanks man!

The brake bleeder cannot be used as an extractor - it creates positive pressure only, not to mention it is about 1/4 the necessary size with regard to fluid capacity.

The Motive Fluid Extractor can be used as a vacuum brake bleeder, and it does come with the proper attachments to do so. However, this is a different method altogether. As this unit creates negative (vacuum) pressure, it cannot be used to push fluid through the system. Therefore, you are drawing brake fluid through the system, which requires that you closely monitor the brake master cylinder reservoir to make sure it doesn't run dry - that would be bad. Conversely, the power bleeder keeps a constant flow of fresh fluid into the reservoir. So, as long as as you have enough new fluid in the bleeder, you're golden.

Because of that, I much prefer to have separate tools for each job.

MityVac does make vacuum brake bleeders with attachments to automatically feed fluid into the reservoir, but you'll spend more on that item than buying both Motive products separately.

We do carry the MityVac extractors, though we only have the 7200 listed currently. I much prefer the Motive because it is more portable and doubles as as storage/transport container for the waste oil for me.

Thanks, Ken. Excellent information. I'll take your advise and stick with two separate tools for each job. For now, though, I just need to do an oil change so I'll likely place an order sometime this weekend for one of the Motive units. Thanks again!
