Not quite sure when the 460 kit became the 450 kit but 450 is what the kits seem to make in the UK on Dyno Dynamics so hey, ho.

My kits been fitted now for about 5 weeks or so and apart from the 400 mile drive home from the workshop I hadn`t really driven it much `till last weekend.

Boarded the Ferry last Fri to Zeebrugge and headed off to the `ring with about another 10 BMW`s (everything from a 320d to M5`s and 535d tourers) the `ring didn`t open after the VLN on Sat and on Sun it pissed down all day but still managed to get 10 laps in.

On the way there I got a chance to run against a friends stockish M3 vert (exhaust, intake, re-map) and from 80-150 ish I could pull about 5-6 car lengths, my car seemed to lurch ahead immediately then as the revs on the stock car rose the gap stopped increasing so much. This was the first chance I`d had to run the car against anything since the `charger was added and TBH I was quite releived to see the difference. :craig: I ran against the same car last year when mine was stock and there was nothing in it at all.

What also shocked me was how quick the E39 M5 was in a straight line, a friend had one with 97K miles on the clock, a full Miltek system and re-map and there was nothing in it all the way to 130 or so :yikes:

The `charger ran perfectly all weekend and even with back to back laps the oil temp never went a shade above 100 which is where it`s always sat when driving very hard, no warning lights, no missfiring, not a peep all weekend. So here`s to the lads at ESS for a well put together "budget" kit that will hopefully open the FI market upto a bigger audience and I look forward to the next upgrade kit. :pimpin:

Heres a (very bad) video of my car alongside a Z4 3.0i and I promise he did floor it although it doesn`t look like it, I thought it took much longer for me to pass in person compared to the video. Please excuse his choice of music, he`s married with 3 kids (`tho that could be a cover)

Nice to hear about your experience with the VT450! It is a very good value kit that installs in less than 6 hours using normal hand tools. It is also very upgradeable as proven by the 558RWHP version we just assembled based on this platform.

The VT450 will actually make over 460HP when installed on a M3 with Euro spec LHD exhaust and 93+ octane fuel. DynoDynamics dynos are notoriously strict, but to be on the safe side with the ratings we used a worst case scenario meaning the VT450 will make at least 450HP even with US manifolds or on a strict DynoDynamics dyno. If it makes 460-480HP on a DynoJet with headers I don't think anyone will complain.. :)

AJ its nice to see manufacturers being straight up with figures.
For the money there`s nothing else that will come close for an M3 and I now have a heavy ass `vert that probably has a slight edge over a featherweight CSL in a straight drag. The upgrade kit will be awesome I`m sure, just hurry up already. :4ngie:

Nice one mike:thumbsup:

Have to think hard about this:banghead: One thing though....how come it was difficult to pull away from the M5? How heavy is the standard M3 vert compared to the M5 and what did the tune up do for the M5?

M3 `vert is 1655 Kgs (same as E92 M3) The E39 M5 as standard is 400 hp and shed loads of torque, with the exhaust and map I guess it must be 420 ish ?

Next months BMW car has an article with a standard E39 M5 against the E90 M3 and their results were pretty much the same as mine against the slightly modded E39 M5.
