View Full Version : Removing CEL Due To Headers With Software

I need to find software that removes my catalytic inefficiency codes that resulted from the installation of my headers. Now before someone says this is illegal, I HAVE A HIGH FLOW CAT! I can pass emission tests! However, the change in voltage between the pre and post 02 sensors is still above the threshold where it trips the CEL. I have tried a suggestion to remove the post 02 sensors out of the direct exhaust flow but that did not solve my problem. Can this be done with software or not, I have heard too many conflicting reports and other BS on this subject.

I believe there are tuners that will not allow the CEL light to come on but the actual fault code is still there and can be read.
What are you trying to get done, no CEL light or no fault code at all?

I would be very interested in no fault codes.

no fault code, no cel but a fault code wouldn't help.

Search for O2 simulators. Casper Electronics made a great one until the EPA shut them down. You can occasionally find them on ebay. Some of the other brands are hit & miss, especially with late model cars...

Was about to post that...exactly what you want to find.

I have technik headers, no cats, and no cel.

the funny thing is.. I was told by autotalent to expect the CEL down the line and reset it with the odb2 scanner peake tool.

but it never reared its head.

..I do have ESS softwre that came with my kit, and I always like to believe that it was written in the codes.

..ever since that skyline pat headers thread..maybe aj figured out we'd all get headers :p

but id like to know too.

no fault code, no cel but a fault code wouldn't help.

I've been running for about a year now with highflow cats two non foulers in the post 02 sensors and no fault codes

My cats are staggered just underneath the passenger floorboard.

do you have any kind of software other than stock bmw

ESS, but I was told it didn't alter any of the stock cat efficiency settings and before I put the second defouler (stacked)in there I would get the CEL
