hi Guys,
I just spoke to Active Autowerks about putting a SC into my 03 325i Automatic tranny.
Of course as stated that its not recommended because the load the tranny will take.
has anyone on this forum attempted this install and what were the outcome?
I know this will shorten the life of the tranny...but by how much if you do the recommended oil changes at 5K?
please let me know...thanks to all.

E46 325 auto isn't a good starting point for going FI root. Ask yourself if you are ready for tranny maintenance/replacement in the long run? Switch to manual transmission car and then see if you really need more power. The life of tranny will shorten depending on the abuse and there's no definite millage for you. Eventually, after running 6 PSI of boost, you will admit one thing, the car is slow again, need upgrade...

my friend mcrazy as a e-36m3 with a automatic tranny and he as the first aa s/c for a auto.for his car. it runs great and he as put alot of miles on it something like 50,000 miles.... and it never gave him any trouble....
i know the car is different than yours.. but i wanted to let you know about it....good luck if you get it....you should talk to the aa people about it. they would tell you the truth if you will run into any issues....about a s/c for your 325.....

It depends completely on how you drive. AA doesn't recommend it because they can't determine how you drive the car. Naturally if you're a hard driver, redlining every time you hop in the car, the tranny is not going to last as long. The first c30 kit AA built was on an automatic 330, and it lasted up until it was returned to stock and sold.

The real issue I have with this:
The engine oil doesn't have anything to do with the life of the transmission. Please do a lot of searching on this.

Alot of cars run S/C kits on auto trannys, but of course there is more room for something bad to happens. It depends on if you have a GM, or a ZF (or Getrag, i forget who makes the auto) Tranny. The GM one will probally go bad. Since you have an 03 I think you will have the better one, and a lot of people run the S/C kits on autos and have no problems. G/L make the right choice...

thanks to all for the input....im still debating to go ess or active.
I dont drive hard at all especially with the crazy gas prices in ny...i just hearde from a friend that its hiting $4 a gallon
if i sit down to think about it...all im really doing to to keep my hobby going and not really driving.
i do mostly weekend and I never abuse.
im wondering if i should just chip for now to gain some torque or go all out and SC.
big price difference for someone who just want som pickup without the noise.

i supercharged when i was auto, got around 15-20k and lost reverse and then did a 5 speed transmission conversion. some people get lucky, others dont, and like stated- depends how you drive, if you are a hard driver (and trust me when you go FI you are more likely to see those high RPMs because you will love the boost) it plays a role, and the steptronics to begin with arnt very strong.. lots of failures with people who arnt FI.
ide do it if you can swing the supercharger, figure start saving for a transmission swap 1-2 years down the road if you plan on keeping your car

just like mentioned above its true when u get the s/c in about a month or two your going to want more power its just how it goes as far as gas goes you really wont waste that much more gas because unless your really hitting it u wont be hitting boost often

We always warn that there MIGHT be issues down the road, but some people never seem to encounter them.
