ESS ts2 you wont regret it I wish I would of gotten that one.

^That's the best performance kit available in the market as of today for e46 325.

I am looking in to the same thing for my Touring. Why neither of those sites posts 1/4 mile results?

Malina, I found your thread looks like real world results with the AA kit, expect around a 14 sec. 1/4 trapping just over 101?

Ridin325, how's the ESS perform?

Because there're plenty of variables that influence on the 1/4 standings.

That's right. A slightly better result would be possible with a better launch.

How's the ESS perform?
People on this forum posted numbers around low 13" & 106MPH for 330 equipped with TS 2.

Just trying to get a ball park, +/- .5 on 1/4 is fine.. Was your time consider on the conversative end then? So you should be able to get it down to 13.6? That's reflects what AA desribed it as "almost M3" performance.

Is AA's kit running at 8psi?

From what you noted, the TS2 kit is what an stock M3 can do.. but that's on a 330i.

Yes aa kit runs at 8 psi. I dont know first hand how the twin screw feels I just now full power at 2.5k rpm is nice.

I went to Moroso Drag Strip 2 or 3 times only, so I'm not an experienced drag racer  13.77 seconds is the best time I got out of a dozen of launches, but all of them weren't perfect (misshift, hit redline, DSC on :banghead:).
It's 8.5 @ 6800RPM, at night I was able to push it to 9PSI on 93 octane, assuming the car runs perfect.

You mean full torque :)

So based on this, TS2 on 330 should hit low 13's and AA Kit on 325i kit upper 13's in the 1/4 mile. I should expect something in that range.. 13.5 to 14.0 1/4 mile and about the same from the ESS kit. Possibly faster jump since it hit full boost at 2.5k. But it is worth the extra $3k?

Malina, How did you increase the boost to 9psi? Did your car only have AA's kit or other mods as well?

I didn't increase boost at all. 9 psi lasted may be 0.1 of a second before hitting red line. It's weather conditions that influence the performance of the car. With outside temps of over 95F and high humidity 8 PSI last about 0.1" :) I'm talking about my experience with C30-94 kit on e46 325i.
ESS gives you more upgrade options and higher potential with TS system, which is nice for a boost junky... With C30-94 kit you are locked to 9PSI and ~275 WHP.
My car had stock engine, Denso spark plugs, completely stock exhaust, SSK, clutch & flywheel upgrade. Performance wise only AA C30 kit, which I was very happy with.

Was the clutch and flywheel upgrade due to S/C for just worn out? I read the stock clutch can handle this S/C without upgrade right?

Also, how loud was the S/C?

malina

Stock clutch is fine, you don't have to change anything with installation of a SC. I had Tein SS coil-overs installed as my ride didn't have a sport package and was like a boat even before SCing. Rotrex supercharger is very quiet until you hit 5000RPM when a pleasing whistle comes in. The sound isn't annoying at all. I used to be bothered with flywheel chatter at idle but never with a SC music :) Check out my video against 540i from 0 to 60mph.

Is that 275WHP based on a dyno run? That's close to E46 M3 level! My guess would be around 240WHP.

malina
04-24-2008, 07:44 AM
275 WHP is the highest I've seen with stock engine & some exhaust mods.

I would say try to find a used ess ts kit. I wish I would of waited for one of those instead of the c30 kit. Either way I wouldn't buy new unless you have alot of money to be wasted.

^Pretty soon one can find a used e46 325 for the price of Twin Screw kit for that car :(

Why aren't you happy with the C30 AA kit?

My reasoning to get more power in my 325iT is not to beat anyone or car specifically. I want to get back the power I was accustom to(E46 M3). If it close it may be worth it, if it's far from it, then I might just leave it alone.

Its hard to tell I haven't driven an m in awhile. But it is still slower than an m but not by much. I dont like the way the boost builds on this unit and it doesnt give enough power. My car still seems way to slow for me, but I can't complain about that it is a 325. I will probably upgrading my pulley sometime this year so I can go to 10.5 lbs. A twinscrew car will just be more fun to drive because of how the power is delivered.

keith_m3-4

Right, based on you and malina's info along with AA claims, it should be very close to stock M3.

You mention "enough", how much is for you? I always thought my M3 had more than enough power for a DD. It's plenty to get you in trouble. It was well packaged and handled the power very well. It's also faster than a lot of cars on the road. I want those attributes in my touring.. or atleast very close.

One of my problems is I am used to driving my friends 10sec ta. So alot of cars feel slow to me. That and I guess I was just expecting more out of the supercharger. But hopefully 10.5lbs and cams will help out.

keith_m3-4
04-24-2008, 01:27 PM
"10 sec ta"... comm'on.. that's not even close to realistic.. perhaps 300whp?

Do you have any details to share on your's setup? and some numbers?

ridin325
04-24-2008, 01:47 PM
I never thought my car would be close to my friends ta but I am used to driving something with that much power. I would say I am around 300whp I am under it though. I have every performance mod other than internals and cams.

What is a "ta"?

with 300whp, you should take stock M3 pretty easily? So you have AA's kit, full exhaust... and? thanks for sharing!

Headers, pulleys, ltw flywheel, stage 3 clutch, 3.46 diff, throttle body, and nitrous (not yet installed). I might of forgotten something. I dont have 300 I have around that but it is under that.

You should be close to 300rwhp. With cams you'll hit it for sure.
