I am starting to get upset. I have an e46 M3 with a Dinan charger, 3.91 dif, short shift and lots more. I have now had 3 problems with my car. 2 major and 1 annoying. My short shifter makes a grinding noise when shifted almost every single time. No one seems to know the problem and most people pass it off as normal but my friends Dinan m3 does not have this problem. Does any one know what it is or how to fix it? The car is currently in the shop for the second time for major service. I don’t know that much about cars so please excuse my terminology. For the first service the oil lines blew to the charger which really messed it up the car would not even run and had to be towed to the shop. After that was fixed. Now only 3,000 miles later an O ring has gone bad and there is no boost reaching the motor. So the charger is basically making no power. They are in the process of rebuilding the entire charger. Are these problems normal? I know they are major problems and they require entire rebuilds of the charger. Is this something to be expected with FI or is something really wrong? I am frustrated because I went with Dinan because of "proven reliability" and my car has been any thing but!!!!! Should I make sure the shop working on the car is doing cretin things or should I just let them do their thing? I am getting to the point where I am considering taking out the Dinan and going with active. any recommendations on how to proceed? thank you for your help in advance
Also the car is driven properly and shifted properly. I am a fully licensed SCCA driver and race In the skip series. The first shop I was at accused me of driving the car incorrectly. That was a BMW dealership (don’t ever go to BMW of Greenwich they have no clue what they are doing) however I am pretty sure I know how to drive a car properly and have never missed a shift in the car or treated it poorly. I am almost 100% sure these problems are completely mechanical and not due to driver error.

Sorry to hear about your problems. There are very few Dinan charged cars on this forum, so I'm really not too familiar with the kit, and the one car I know of that had the kit wasn't daily driven or tracked or anything.
In any case, you shouldn't have oil lines breaking at all  You can't go wrong with AA, they've never blown a motor with the SC kit, and have had cars running for years with no problems.

Should have gone AA :pimpin:
Switch back to your stock shifter, see if that helps, if not, you may have damaged synchros or possibly even the tranny.
Your issued with the supercharger kit are serious items and out of the norm...
Good luck!

Not sure about AA never having blown a motor. I have a AA c38 kit on a 330 and I have a severly bent conrod, bent not snapped (to much power for the standard componant), one thing I will say though is AA won't admit that it ahs anything to do with them. Believe me your not missing out by not going with AA. The customer service is shocking, but that's only my opinion. Hope it gets sorted soon.

I was at Chapman BMW in Scottsdale last week. They told me they no longer sell any Dinan parts due to reliability issues.

Sorry to hear about your problems. If I were you, I'd make sure I spoke to Dinan directly; don't just trust your shop. My S3-R kit has been bulletproof so far, but the shop that put it in made no bones about the fact that it is a very difficult install; if you've had this much trouble this early, you should probably send your car to Dinan, if that's feasible.

Well at least you did go Dinan, so everything is covered! That is one great advantage of going with them. I think your problems are definitely out of the norm, but you should be worry free with the warranty.
I also think it is whack that BMW said you were driving the car incorrectly. And even if you were, there is no clause or handbook (I dont think) that defines how to drive or anything like that. Everyone drives differently and it does not explain why an oil line or o ring would fail. I hate how BMW tries to pull $h1t like that.
But best of luck and get that car back on the road!
