Hi, I currently drive an '01 325i with the business cd radio stereo. Recently the stereo had just crapped out on me, the radio and cd works just fine but I can't tell anything that is being displayed. Attached are a few pictures.
would anybody be able to help me out on this? thank you :)

Just the joy of 7 year old electronics my friend. I had to replace my business cd because the ejection mech. broke and wouldn't eject the cd. Also, mine does something similar to this when it gets real cold, some of the display won't show up until the car warms up. Anyway, if it still works and you can live with it then you're good to go, otherwise, look for a used business cd or go aftermarket.

I can probably live with it, but if I do buy a used business cd radio like from ebay. How would I go on installing it? is it just removing my current radio and plugging in the new one? and does it need to come with any wiring?
hehe thanks :)

I bought mine from ebay, just be careful with guys that are selling products that they purchased through a group buy auction where they bought like a used electronics pallet with 30 radios because sometimes they all havn't been tested and some don't work. Anyway, look through the for sale forums on here before ebay, 97.5% the guys on here are honest and you will actually know what you're getting. Just to give you a ballpark, I paid around $150 for my 2003 used Alpine Business CD about 8 months ago. Make sure to get the Alpine radio and not the Blaupunkt (Blaupunkt is crap IMO.) As far as installing goes, just carefully pull out the trim surrounding the cd player and you'll see the 2 screews that hold it in. Take those screews out, unplug the harness and plag in the new one, it's that easy. If you can find a radio dated after 2004 get it, they're supposed to be able to play MP3 cds.

If you do decide to replace your head-unit we sell the Alpine built OEM head-unit for your car,
E46 OEM Head-Unit (http://www.bavariansoundwerks.com/product/636/375/BMW-Radio-E46/)
This unit is brand new straight from the dealer and comes with a 1 year warranty and a 30 day satisfaction guarantee. This unit is also Satellite ready so if you want to add Sirius or XM you can add the Direct units which give you full text and usability.
For your year model car you will need a plug-n-play kit to allow it plug into your antenna connection.
I hope this helps and if you have any other questions feel free to contact me.
