:banghead:
I'm getting absolutely walked by a 345whp/360wtq camaro.
The car seems to be running right, has the idle surge at start up (who knows how to make that go away?)
I can't remember what thread it was but can my stock coils (the ones that BMW recalled) be affecting my power at all? Even if it's not throwing codes?
You have no idea how much of a bummer it is to get walked by a gaymaro.
p.s. Rob's hpf car is a god damn monster. He flipped the switch on the methanol and I swear to god a rocket flew past me.
75% disappointed with my experience with F/I so far and currently wishing I went HPF.

My coils were bad (or at least one)...NO CODES show up on an AA car. Not sure about VF. Something is done with the DME (on an AA car where some codes will not show up).
My car was "missing" when I was ON the gas. Obvious something was wrong with my car.
Good luck!

If a coil go out, the car will go into limp mode and drive like ****, from my experience, and as far as I know the old coils wernt able to put out as much spark and u might run outta spark with the older ones over the bosch

Try dynoing your car and then calling us for trouble shooting.

Yeah my car is definitely not in limp mode. :banghead:

I'll try and get it on a dyno sometime soon.

Cuz there is only 1 fast VF stage 2 car and that belongs to Drew... The other ones get beat on pump gas by HPF on pump gas...haha , just playing all in good fun. Try replacing your spark plugs, if that doesnt work, get some plasma coils.

Nate, completely untrue my Brotha, I ran another VF stage 2 we were even. As far as i know no VF, AA, or ESS car has ran a true pump vs. pump against an HPF car, why would they, the only HPF car that ran pump at a fantastic track, Sacramento, trapped 112 MPH. Scott ran an HPF car that had race fuel, never pump, I don't care what the settings were, it was an advantage as a VF car at Sac should trap 117+ on pump fuel.
All I know is this, three VF Stage 2 cars are faster then the next AA car 60-130. :D So when are we going to finally have some friendly runs!? :)
Jeff best of luck getting this fixed, if you're not happy with it do as the previous owner did, sell it and go HPF, you have been unhappy with this kit since day one, but at least you didn't install an HPF kit and then two days later have your motor blow, Scott's situation is horrible. :( Regardless the kit is the real deal when installed and running right, my FI travels have had some bumps along the way as well but all is good now, hope you get there man.

Let's do some pump vs. pump runs soon as well as some race fuel runs, lol, the race fuel runs will be hilarious. I think the pump fuel runs will be more interesting of course, all in good fun though. If you want to do some Vbox runs we can as well, let me know.

I have probably driven my car 300 miles in the past 3 months, i have been so busy with family life. But i am moving to LA next month so im sure i will get around to it. I need to get my car setup for the track though(rims/tires), i use to love roll races but now that a friend got caught doing it, i am kinda sketch. Im sure we will figure something out. In the meantime race that HPF car up in LA on pump, i still think u will win that, even though the other VF car lost.

I hear you on the family thing, lol, good luck with that Bro. When you make it up here, Mike, Johnny you and I should get together, hang out, we don't always have to do runs, lol.
The other VF car won the 1st race, then started to loose as the cars got hotter, as we both know results may vary, the HPF car may just get me on pump as I believe they have improved on their pump fuel tune.
Jeff, sorry for going off topic. :)

I wish I had the funds to pull the supercharger and get the HPF kit but I'm not capable of doing that anymore. As far as Scott's motor blowing I really think that was a fluke. Although a very big one. :banghead:
I'm really hoping there is just a little installation error or I need new coils or something.

Are you sure the camaro was pushing what he said it was pushing? I know plenty of muscle guys and they like to lie about there setups all the dam time. He mighta been on the bottle, or just plain ass built.

Jeff you need to do more testing with your car, even if you don`t have access to a drag strip or V box, time a 60-130 run (it`ll be slightly out due to speedo error but better than nothing) or race a stock M3.
When my VT 450 kit was fitted I felt a little disappointed, `till I ran it against a stock M3 and the difference is night and day. The problem is that a stock M3 is already a quick car (I don`t care if others say otherwise, it is :4ngie:) and when you add 40% or so more power thats delivered linearly, it isn`t going to smash you around the face and make you say "OMFG that`s fast" as it keeps the smoothness of a NA engine. If you want to feel like your getting your granny smashed in everytime you floor it, then you need a turbo but personally I wouldn`t want something that develops a huge HP gain over a very short RPM range. (IMO it puts a huge strain on the car, makes traction a problem and frankly in the wrong hands could be dangerous, This is not a cheap shot at HPF, I think the work they do is automotive art).

Best advice is to put your car on a Dynojet before spending any cash on any parts.

Yeah mine did the same thing. It was running just fine and i stopped at a light and as soon as took of my car went into limp mood and sounded like crap!:banghead: Neatless to say i drove it home at like 25 mph and could barely make it up hills. And the 200 dollar tow bill to bellevue was like a slap in the face! But bmw did cover the bill so that was cool!

Plasma coils FTW! I've gone through 3 sets of OEM coils, switch to the Plasma's and have yet to have a problem

I'm sorry to hear you're dissapointed with your car, it's a pretty nice ride imo. I didn't hear about the results between your car and James' Camaro, but if he pulled on you more than I did on pump gas mode, then he's putting down a lot more than 345 rwhp. I'm curious to see your dyno numbers.

Jeff and I did 2 runs pump vs. pump. I'm still waiting for Shep to post the vid. The first run, I jumped the gun a little. The second run, Jeff started in second (we rolled from 50 mph). He pulled a couple car lenghths right away, but I passed him around top of third gear. It wasn't an ass kicking by any means, but a very noticeable power difference. His car sounded like it was running smooth, but we'll need a dyno graph to really know.
I believe Jessie also ran a s/c car (can't remember if it was AA or VF) and had the same results.

This is very interesting info, if Jeff's car is relatively close to your HPF car on pump mode then it is likely his car is running fine. Jeff really needs to put his car on a Dynojet to confirm it is making the intended power.
Jessie in fact did run against a s/c car, my VF Stage 2 M3 - just before I pulled the kit off and upgraded to the HPF kit. The cars seemed very evenly matched power wise, the VF kit became slower as heat soak became an issue.

lol, yes running good until the end of the run vs the GT. My car arrived at HPF today and I have no worries - my car will be back and kicking a$$ in no time. :D

Yeah, I did run Rob (great dude by the way).
Bottom line is that the HPF car is faster in every way.
Once I get my idle search solved and my adaptations cleared I'll hit the dyno.

Thanks for posting that, Jeff. I'm glad I finally got to meet you. Hopefully the guys at VF can help you squeeze a little more power out of your beast.
