I wish I had known that there are parts that might need changing after the supercharger is in on a car that is 80k miles plus. There was a Wooing noise coming from the engine bay after the car is in gear. So I called AA and they told me it's the oil separator line which is under the throttle body.

I know my car is old, but what else should I change before I push my car harder with the supercharger?

100k tune up is already done before I even thought of supercharging.
Spark Plug changed
Oil Changed
Oil Filter Changed
Transmission Fluid Changed
Drive Train and Axle Lubricated

But nothing changed that would be compromised unless supercharged.

Maybe AA should have a list that list things that might need replacing. I understand this doesn't happen to all cars, but I thought I would share, in case there are people out there that is thinking of supercharging your 100k plus miles BMW.

Man, you are right about that. I got my kit, well they are still building it and once I get back from vacation will be putting it in. I got 62k on my car right now, so I am thinking I will be replacing a couple of parts soon too.

Do you plan on taking some vids of your car?? I would love to see how your car drives.

change as many rubber hoses under the hood as you can...

Replace with OEM or better as many bushings as you can...

cooling system could use refurbishing if it hasn't had some already,

how are you control arms and brakes, with more power it's good to have good brakes...

I should change my Title, I meant to say SC, not AA. AA is not the problem, just to be clear.

Vids are coming once I get take it apart to fix the problem. :)

I could still drive the car with the noise on, and it's still fast. But it's just not good for the catalytic converter. The check engine light goes on because it tells the computer to go Rich/Lean. It goes both ways for the fuel to go Rich and Lean. Confusing, I know.

Control arm looks good, I might want to replace it with light weight version from bavauto. Brakes are upgraded with cross drilled/slotted and non ceramic brake pads. Brakes real good.

Hoses are good to replace, I might have to check them all or replace them all. At this rate, the time it takes me to install the sc and the parts I have to change, I will be done in a month total time.

Thanks for your input guys.

Valve cover gasket, vanos seals????

This is a very good thread, we should def make it a lil official. I'm toying with the idea of boosting my car when I hit 200k miles.

wow, 200k? Wow. I think the list should be longer for you on what to change before hand and after. The way I drive my car is about 7k a year. I work at home, I'm at 102k right now, it'll take me more than 10 years to reach 200k, by then, I don't even want to think what I need to change. YIKES!

But I should be driving more now since I have the supercharger. I'll just have to find reasons to drive more. But thanks for the add-on, that's definitely good to check the gaskets.

im already at 150k and im about to do the rntire cooling system, valvle cover gaskets, sparkies, and vanos seals. so id imagine all that would be left is vacuum lines, current FCABs have less than 10k mile son em, just need to address the rear suspension bushings.

All the hoses were changed and the Oil Separator Line as well. The MAF from the intake needs changing as well since it's old or something is broken. I have a CEL Code 170 and 173, which is MAF failure. I'm running too Rich.

Damn those MAF replacement are expensive!
