I have a K&N intake w/ pipe I'm going to install tomorrow, previous owner of the car had it on but took it off when selling. He claims the Check engine light will remain on due to MAF receiving too much air flow?
I'm wondering is there any type of mod I can do to trick this, so that the engine light stays off? I figure I can probably wrap a form of filter over it and that maybe would work, any Ideas?

If you wrap anything around the sensor be prepared to spend around $400 to get a new one.
The best mod is to keep the OEM box IMHO

He must of had a bad MAF sensor. Ive had the K&N 63 intake on my car for a as long as I have owned it and have had no CEL come on at all.

No CAI should give a CEL. If there was too much airflow, then the car would be stalling itself.

hmm what could it be then? I'm going off sellers word of mouth. The old Intake is in the trunk, I get no Check engine light right now and stock air box is in?

I never buy any parts from the dealership, but I also never buy non-OEM engine components, specially a generic air flow sensor

the previous owner of the car might have done the MAF screen delete mod. it will work fine with a stock airbox as the air is less turbulent and smoothen out by the stock air box. however if its paired with a aftermarket CAI and the MAF with the screen deleted the CEL tends to pop up here and then...

I have a 325ci and i installed cai and got check engine light, my cruise does not work and car stalls when coming to a stop/letting clutch out sometimes. When I put stock intake back on, check engine light off and runs like a charm. no maf hacks or nada...? Any help with this..? thanks, bill.

I've heard that engine software will help with this. I actually know a friend who bought an ECIS intake and he would get lean fault codes because of it. Went out and got the Shark injector (DIY engine software package) and that solved the problem.
If you have SULEV though, thats a different beast.

Just be careful when attaching the coupling. The MAF appears to be a very sensitive little sucker...
