I'm planning on installing new speakers and an amp, but the regulator on the front passenger window in my sedan is broken. Do I need to get this fixed before I can do the install? Also how difficult is it to do this install myself, someone who does not have a whole lot of experience in working on cars, but I pick things up quickly? Thanks....

no you don't. our speakers are mounted to the door panel and not the door

If your planning on fixing the regulator yourself (which you absolutely should, saves you a lot of money on a simple job the dealer charges you a ridiculous price for), then I would say your fine going ahead with the speaker install. The only reason I say this is becasue its possible that if you take your car to a dealer to get the regulator fixed, they will have to take the door panel off in the process, and because you won't have the standard speakers that unplug eaisly, they may rip out the speaker terminals or not put them back on right. I personally had this happen on my last window regulator that was fixed at the dealer on my 323i, I had CDT speakers in there and they ripped the speaker terminal wires out and didn't even plug them back in at all! Just a heads up on that.

It might be a good idea to go ahead and put the new regulator in while you have the door panel off. Not really necessary but you'll take care of two birds with one stone.

Alright thanks, I'm going to do the regulator myself when I put the speakers in.
