looking to get a performance intake to increase HP, and also to get that whoosh noise that I love, I know realistically HP gain is minimal but as for quality what would be the best intake, from what I hear the aem short ram intake seems to be the safe choice, but i would like to know if anyone has any other advice.

i have ecis, and love it. one because sounds great and two because its carb legal... a good thing since your in Cali, that way you could actually pass smog with it.

A intake will give a very little increase in power. The only thing one is good for is noise. The only thing that is bad about your stock airbox is the filter. I just can't justify $~250 for a few (2-5) hp and maybe 8-10 with tuning which would include another $300+. When a K&N will do the same thing for $50 well but without the sound. However there are a few good deals that pop up from time to time which and to me that would be the only time this would be a reasonable mod. If I had to choose one it would be a conforti.

i ordered parts from injen and went to lowes for the couplings and built my own intake, way cheaper and way cooler. just make sure to not use an oiled air filter

I had the GruppeM on my 330. It was amazing sounding. I really dont think it did anything for the performance but the looks and sound were what i bought it for.

I have the ECIS on my 328 and it sounds like an intake, nothing special. Power increase not really noticeable but I think it did help with mpg a little. Also uses the factory air duct from kidneys for fresh air which is better than a short-ram drawing from engine bay. I recommend it, no complaints and not too expensive.

is there a reason why the conforti intake is round $400 while the ecis is around $300 and the aem intake can be found for about $240??? I'd be willing to drop 300 shipped on an intake, (but still should be a quality product) (I LOVE the loud whooshing sound of the intake, thats why i want one of these so bad). a link to a site would be AMAZING, cuz im kinda bad at finding deals on products. much appreciated :-)

i have a bmw 330ci and want an intake but now looking at this post may not be the 1 to get :S
this is what i read on another forum
Hey Guys,
I have been trying to search for help on the issue I am facing but so far am out of luck. I have a 2003 BMW 330i that I purchased recently. I have put in the Active Autowerke Exhaust on the car and also replaced the factory intake with the Conforti Cold Air Intake purchased from turnermotorsport. Everything worked ok after the exhaust upgrade until I replaced the intake with Conforti Intake about a couple of weeks later. I keep getting the two faults:
P0171 System Too Lean (Bank 1)
P0174 System Too Lean (Bank 2)
I took the car down to the dealership and I think they are just idiots down there. They said that my cars computer had detected that the hood was not shut, so thats why my car was reporting the SES light. When I asked them how does that corelate to my car running lean, they couldnt justify and basically wanted money for diagnostics.
I called turnermotorsport and they seem to suggest that I am running into this problem because I havent done the Conforti shark injector upgrade on my car. According to them, once I have the shark injector upgrade, it will open up my car to expect more oxygen at bank 1 and bank 2 sensors and my car wont report running lean anymore.
Also, as an fyi, I have already googled other possible causes of these two errors but I car seems to be free of those problems. I have cleaned the MAF with the MAF cleaner from Autozone, the Oil Filter does not seem to be oiled too much (which could cause a dirty MAF), I have done a half rotation of the ITG filter which was recommended by turner, I have slowly removed my oil cap and my car does not make any noise which was suggested somewhere as meaning I had to replace some valve and I have also verified that the intake boot pipe is not cracked which seems to be the issue that majority of the e46 owners face (I had this problem back when I bought the car but the dealership replaced the torn intake boot pipe and I had them verify its not torn again). Also, just to rule everything out, I even lowered the hood on my car with the two adjustable springs but still no difference.
Is it normal for me to face these problems without the shark injector upgrade. Any suggestions on this would be greatly appreciated. My bimmer has already cost me a couple of grand in repair but I still love it.

Which one should I get for my ZHP, the aFe, Conforti, or ECIS? And why?
Does anyone have proof or a reason why one of these is better than the other? I'm looking for the one that is going to give me the best performance increase regardless of the situation. I also want to make sure that the filter is just as safe for my engine as the stock airbox.
Thank you.
