Hey gang,
I've been real impressed with the help that is found here so here's my first post. I'd like to install either a dice ipod integration kit or at least aux input into my car, and initially I thought I was good to go to do this b/c Bavaudio's site says it is designed for 323 models from ''96' on up. I've also located the CD changer wires which are itching to be hooked up.
I've noticed the demos however are only done on cars that have the upgraded stereo (that has the "mode" button). So I've got the factory orignial older version (without the mode buton). - Just AM/FM SCAN/CD buttons.
Does this mean I can't hook up an AUX input and just select CD? Am I seriously supposed to fork over 300 dollars for the same stereo that just has an extra button called "mode"? Thanks in advance!
:hmm:

The older Business headunits (with the CD button) do not have the AUX connection on the rear of the radio.
I swapped my older radio for a newer Business CD (with the MODE button) in order to get the AUX input for my Ipod. The new radio is also software version 50 which means it is SAT-ready to let me add an XM Direct unit in the trunk that will still let me use the CD changer.
I thought about DICE but did not want to lose the CD changer.
With this set-up, I can listen to a CD in the radio, the Ipod thru the AUX input, the CD changer or XM.

I'm pretty sure you can still have AUX input with the CD43 head unit, you just need to buy and install an AUX connector cable to the back of the unit and then to access it just press the CD button twice.
Maybe someone else here can confirm that.

According to the Installation Instructions for P/N 82 11 0 149 389 Auxiliary Audio Input Kit, only radios manufactured after 9/2002 have the connection on the back of the radio for the BMW AUX input cable. The old Business headunit I removed from my car did not have the connection.

Thanks for the info, although I know you can connect the ipod kit to it which I thought has an AUX connector as well.

It's SW43 for AUX/Sirius compatibility.

Are you referring to AUX? Please be as specific as possible.

The DICE kit has a built in AUX port - even if you do not use the iPod functionability - a passenger may have one.

So my 2002 325i w/ the business cd and mode button doesn't have an aux input i could use for an mp3 player? I was hoping to avoid an ipod adapter kit just to hook up 3.5mm headphone jack.

You will need a 2003 + business CD headunit in order ot be compatible for AUX support, or we have the Blitzsafe AUX kit - which is about 1/2 the cost of the DICE.
Keep in mind, this is only an audio input and does not offer the integrated features the DICE does. Especially if you plan on using an iPod.

This sounds perfect for me. I have a bunch of mp3 players but no ipods(i give them a very bad review).
