I am throwing two codes. P0011 Camshaft position actuator (A) Bank 1 timing over advanced and also P0014 Camshaft position actuator (B) Bank 1 timing over advanced....Does anyone know what these mean and what is needed to fix the problem.. Thanks in advance

Thanks. You were saying that it is the sensors... but in that thread it sounds like they are all saying that it is the coils

First code - coils
Second code - cam position sensor.
Start with the cam sensor, cheaper and easier.

Thanks I appreciate your help.. Well should i take it to the dealer to see about the coils since they are covered under the bulletin?

Yeah I agree, I would replace your cam sensors. Seen them cause all sorts of strange faults. Always recommend getting a software update too, seen some strange 02 sensor faults due to software issues.

software update? do you go to the dealer for that and does it cost anything?

We use an autologic for our updates, they are a company in the UK that gets their software updates from BMW. There are some "service bulletins" that state upon customer complaint they will reprogram your DME. You might have to pay if you cant think of a good complaint, I do updates in all our customers cars mainly to keep me from having to diagnose strange faults later on.

Thanks I went by the dealer and checked for any bulletins and there werent any got a print out of the work done and turns out they replaced the coil packs not long ago went I had one of my inspections done. so i doubt its the coils now.
