I was wondering, could one of you experts answer these questions for me.

AVIC D2 install

1. Orange/white wire(lighting switch) - Does this control dim of stand alone buttons OR for day/night navigation?

2. Will I risk overdriving the amp by wiring with the head unit wires and harness? It is to my belief that the e46 has an amplifier already, so wiring from the head unit will overdrive the amp.

3. If so, should I use the preamp RCA's to signal the already installed amp?

I hope the second two made sense, being I'm just trying to carefully wire the system. BY THE WAY, no amps or other extras. Not now anyway.

Thanks in advance.

1. on some pioneers, it dims as well as changes the colors on the navigation map. You can temporarily put power on the wire to see what it does.

2. OEM amp can self-adjust for balanced-differential signals or line level. Just hook up the D2 speaker outputs to the harness

3. RCAs are only good for an aftermarket amp, will not work with the oem amp.
