Have any of you purchased an extra serpentine belt as a spare in the event that down the road your existing belt needs replacement?

If so then did you purchase the belt directly from ESS or did you find any local places to purchase the belts from?

I confirmed from Hans that our serpentine belts that come with the ESS TS kits are the 1965mm 6PK belts. My mechanic indicated that the belt is made by Continental and that other makers of these belts that I purchase locally could be made by Goodyear... I'm not sure though if it matters that I get another Continental belt or if the Goodyear belt is fine.

Thanks,
Navin

As long as the belt type is the same as what ESS uses then it should cause no problem. I had the original Contitech replaced by the same brand only because Hans sent me an extra belt. Now for replacement which I keep in the trunk I got a different brand belt, same length though. The goodyear belt you got is fine.

Gates belts has a tendency in our experience to make more drive noise than ContiTech belts which we find best overall. But they all work as long as it is the correct length.

Is it because of its outer layer being harder than the Contitech ? The contis are more "rubbery" while the gates is harder compound

Yes, that is the reason.

Thanks bro. I haven't purchased any belt yet, including Goodyear. I was just saying that my mechanic indicated that if I purchase the belt locally then it most likely will be a Goodyear belt. :)

Asbjorn, does Todd stock these ContiTech belts in Phoenix or would I need to have you or Hans ship a ContiTech belt from Norway? Could you let me know my cost for the belt plus shipping?

You can find them locally as well. We charge USD 40 + shipping (USD20) for them. Please contact hans.kirkerod@esstuning.com to order from us.
