I'm about to do my tranny swap in the next few weeks and I also decided to slap on a TS1 while I'm at it for good measure. I've been trying to find out how to order from ESS if I'm located in Southern California. I've tried email a few times, and called a couple times a week for the past three weeks to find out if i should be ordering online or through asbjorn through the san diego office.

Does anyone know how long it takes (roughly) to receive the kit in SO cal after ordering, I want to have it here before I start and I'll need to let my buddy know a couple weeks in advance to use his lift. I'd like to time this correctly so when I send in my DME to be flashed to their software, they can just program it to manual and minimize the time my car has to be inoperable and I only have so much free time allocated for this project.

cheers

The TS units are in stock and normally ship quickly. Send me a PM if you'd like.

It took about a week to get the unit shipped to me from ESS HQ. Just make sure you fill out your customs paper quickly when FedEx contacts you. The quicker you get that paperwork back to them, the quicker they can release the TS to shipping. Ideally you will want them to have the papers before the plane lands in Kentucky from Paris, but that is just my personal experience. Enjoy your newfound power.

It's going on a 325 wagon. This is my daily and I drive the 993 when I want to drive fun. I think the TSI making around 250 to the wheels will make it a fun little hauler along with a 5spd and lightweight flywheel. The TS1 is upgrade-able to the TS2. We'll see, I'm trying not to become boost hungry.

Mr. Boostin: could you elaborate on customs requirements? I would like to order a TS2 while I am overseas for delivery to California, and don't want to burden my spouse with paperwork on it (she has reluctantly allowed the purchase, but I don't want to push it). How are merchandise receivers notified of Customs requirements? Could I complete and forward from overseas? Is payment required? Can it be done online?

FedEx will contact you once the kit arrives in the US and will provide the necessary form and instructions for filling it out. They will either fax or email it to you and then you can just fax it right back. Expect FedEx to charge a small fee (~ $25 IIRC) for serving as the customs broker. It shouldn't prove to be a hassle for your wife.

To be on the safe side, since you will be overseas, you might consider having ESS ship the unit in your wife's name or at least list her name along with yours if she will be the one completing and signing the paperwork for customs. Don't know that there would actually be any issue if the package is shipped in your name but then your wife signed the customs paperwork... but why risk it?

If you ever plan to upgrade your TS1 to a TS2, I'd also like to chime in and suggest you do it right away. The extra cost is minimal but will be a lot more as you'll need to remove your intake manifold to have the cooling cores installed which will result in even more labor / shipping costs.

Not only will you get more power but the cooler air will be safer as well. TS's get hot and an intercooler is no luxury!

Regardless, whichever one you choose you will enjoy it a lot. Have fun with the power!

I'm with these guys. Just go for the TS2, you will be MUCH happier. If I had it to do all over again, I would have gotten the TS2 right away and not just gotten the TS1 and upgraded later.
