View Full Version : HPF Stage 2.5 Race + Methanol 60 - 130

5.85 :)
I finally had time to pour some race fuel in my car this weekend and log some vbox runs with the new tune HPF recently added to their Stage 2.5 cars. I'm running 285/19 Toyo T1R's and I wasn't sure if I would be able to best my pump + methanol time of 6.43 due to traction issues. Starting in 3rd I have to ease into the throttle to keep the car from going sideways, I don't think the tires fully hooked until about 90 mph.

I knew it would be faster, but that's a significant improvement. Forget about cars... 5.85 is faster than the 2006 Yamaha R1 which does it in 5.9 sec. And on street tires w/19" wheels!!!!
Congrats.

Congrats again Scott. I'll try and give you a call tomorrow. Also, what wheels does Wheel Experts carry that you are talking about? I am looking for a set of 18x10 rears to run a "big" drag radial on.

Some of the newer wheels that are made for BMW's are not up on their website yet, I would suggest calling Peter at www.wheelexperts.com and I'm sure he can find something that will work for you.

Also give David a call on Monday for comparison sake (503) 256-5600 X103. We can get you any wheel that exists and David will definitely hook you guys up on the pricing. David also knows all of the offsets, and the best tires to run, etc. etc.

I see any idea of the name of the wheel company so I know what to ask/look for?
I really want some lightweight wheels and have been seaching/waiting for years. (2 years for the VMR forged line so far. :banghead:)

I think WheelExperts had them custom fabricated, don't recall the brand name but if you ask for the new lightweight forged BMW wheels (tell them Scott with the DFW Auto Club sent you) they will know what you're looking for.

Thx bro,
The E46 M3 is proving to be one of the premier platforms for world class performance. With full traction I am sure HPF is fully capable of a sub 5.00 60-130 time. For now I'm happy to hang on to the title. :)

Sorry, I was just being a dick earlier.
I think HPF actually got 5.05 in a Stage 3, and I doubt they've run a stage 4 car yet to see the time. But regardless, 70 mph gain FROM 60 in under 5 seconds should be expected, and will be NUTS.
I*do*Werke
05-29-2009, 08:14 PM
and im guessing that they the boosted m3s dont do to well 0-60 because of traction issues?
BimmerDude18
05-29-2009, 08:39 PM
Well, its not just that, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0 seconds to 60 doesn't mean much in terms of the car, it means a lot in terms of the driver, and the traction the car can get, but the turbo cars have enough torque to blow the tires loose in second gear, first gear is useless without a LOT more grip.
Comparing cars at speed is a better way to compare track performance as well, as most tracks are in the 60-130 range.

They havn't run the stage 3/havn't hit that time.
I remember Chris thinking that the stage 3's and above might not do as well in the 60-130 test due to more turbo lag. It would be interesting to see what the results would be...

On the stage 3 turbo lag shouldnt effect it at all, stage 4 it might alittle. I know for my car i hit full boost at around 65mph in 3rd. So there is a little lag for the 60-130 test. But the power should overcome that and get a much lower time.
