I find all of this talk about the rear of these cars funny. I was going through all this years ago when people were saying they don't know what I was talking about cause their's had no problem. I even remember HPF commenting on there was nothing wrong with their car (when they were first on the scene). It just takes a bit of time and look at all the talk about it now. HPF are experts on fixing the rear ends now they have done so many hehe.

Now I'm saying to people it's going to happen again. The small fixes people are doing now won't be enough. Been there done that. But hope it holds up for everyone. Cause it's not nice doing the job twice.

I originally cracked the rear end on the car so we seam welded the subframe and added strength, seam welded 5 mm plate to the floor of the car and put powerflex bushes through it. Thought it was going to be fine. The problem is with the twist of the diff it pushes up on the front points of the subframe and pulls down on the rear. With the 5mm plate it was fine on the front points, but with the rear points pulling down constantly it just proceeded to pull the whole floor out of the back of the car (it's meant to be spot welded to the underside of the chassis rails. See pics below:

So this is what we did to fix the rear subframe points from pulling the floor out of the car. The rear points now bolt up into here:

Very nice!!. i like what you did there. I had plans for my 323ci ( the stock motor would have went bye bye) that were similar to that. Great Idea, and it also reinforces the shock towers.

Looks great:thumbsup:
I just replaced the whole rear end as well with powerflex subframe bushings. The car feels solid.

The car looks great! If my TMS repair fails, I'll use that picture to guide my future reinforcements.

Not at all. Just quiet as it was before.

Holy crap nice job! I love reading this forum because it inspires new project ideas on my E36.
If you did that with 450 at the wheels, then imagine what a 600+ HPF car will look like in year or two! total destruction!
With all the power the HPF equipped cars make, you think they should all have the kind of brace you made
instead of the weeny little plates they have.
