I've been posting all over trying to find a 1000cc bike to race and found one tonight. The guy has a modded Gixxer 1000 with an extended swingarm and goes to the track a lot. We raced twice, from 45 to 160 and then from 65 to 173. I lost by a few car lenths, the guy has a quick bike and knows how to ride it. There were two stock Gixxer 600's there as well and they were behind both of us, although that was not a surprise to anyone. I had my video camera mounted in my car but I have one of the hard drive camera's and the camera shuts off if it gets jolted at all (which it did when I shifted) so unfortunately I didn't get the runs on video. I'll find a stock bike in a few days and see if I can get a skinny passenger to film for me so I can get it on video. I knew we were going to hit high speeds so I data logged the races with my vbox, here's a shot of the 65 - 173.5 run. (my speedo hit 180+ indicated)

Sounds like a great adventure, must be fun...170+ :yikes:

I wonder how much of a difference the extended swingarm makes? More traction quicker I suppose.

170 is crazy. The extended swingarm isn't for traction - these bikes hook very well, especially at the speed we started - it's to keep the front wheel on the ground.

Holy crap. You were still pulling 0.3g's at 173mph!
