Hi all - first posting. I have a 2004 ZHP with manual 6sp and approximately 80,000 miles. I'm looking at ESS twin-screw, namely the TS2, but my wallet can absorb the hit right now.... so I'm looking at the TS1 with possible upgrade in the future. My question to all you TS1 owner is how big affect does heat soak have with the TS1. I live in Southern California where heat can be an issue. Also, what kind of perfomance can I expect? Let' make a real world comparison. Can I expect to keep up with say a Lexus IS350, Nissan G35 or 2009 Acura TS Type R? Thanks.

You shouldn't have a problem keeping up with any of those cars WITHOUT the supercharger

Yes. I'd try to wait and save for the TS2 if that is what you want. You'll have to take everything apart again if you ever want to upgrade.
I'd suggest going with the TS2 since you live in a relatively hot climate. I faced the same issue when buying my s/c.

Upgrading from the TS1 would require removing the TS intake manifold, shipping it back to ESS in Norway, having them install and pressure test the Laminova cores, ship it back to you along with the additional TS2 parts, and then reinstall and update the software. Much easier to just save up and start with the TS2 from the beginning. Will also save you the redundant installation costs.

And as far as cars you can beat, if you switch to a TS2, which you should cause double the work sucks, and get a 3.38 diff, you can beat m3's.

I didn't realise going from TS1 to TS2 required shipping back manifold to Norway... definitely not worth the extra work and time. TS2 sounds like the way to go.
And as far as keeping up with the 3.5 liter IS350 with 306 hp and 277 pound-feet of torque on tap, it's was only matter of time before I got caught... around 80 mile hour (in a straight line).... with TS2, sounds like definitely not the case.
I always get this mixed up, with 3.38 gears will I be reaching my shift points quicker or another way to put it, will I be revving higher at freeways speed? Reason I ask is with 300 pound-feet of torque, couldn't I run gears that allow me to stay in 1st and 2nd longer taking advantage of all that torque and have better acceleration times?

You would be reaching your shift points quicker. The acceleration you get from it outweigh the benefits of staying in a gear longer.

jetskier88 vs. stock e92 m3? i got a chance to drive the e93 for a couple of days a few months ago...and i find it hard to believe that you can keep up with an e92 (despite your ess ts1). are you really that fast? that would be amazing!

hell yea you have a sick setup. I dream of the ts2 but can't afford it with rent, car payments and the most costly a girlfriend.

There are lots of pictures around here already. Member 330i ZHP has posted tons of pics, vmwerks also posted some good pics of HighBoostin330's TS3 build, and I've also got a couple of pics of my kit. Probably some more I've forgotten about. Todd over at my330i.com has a good DIY for the install which also has some good pics.

I would save up and go with the TS2 right off the bat, otherwise you will be kicking yourself for only getting the TS1 and having to take everything apart to upgrade to TS2. Also, its not necessary to reship the manifold for the TS2 upgrade.

I thought ESS wanted the manifold back so that they could pressure test everything after the Laminova cores were installed?

I was never informed when i ordered the upgrade or sent the ecu in for remapping  Nor is it noted on the website. If they wanted it back, then they should not even sell the upgrade kit and just have the customer send in the manifold for the upgrade....:dunno:

Guess I am wrong about that then. Could have sworn something was posted here about this around the time the kit was being released but sure can't find it now.
